After hearing your story this makes me scared to think this could be me. I meet with my doctor on Feb. 1 and hope to get somewhere. I have brought my issues to their attention in the past but have been told that they are not from the proceedure. I find it strange that there are many of us whom have had the proceedure and have the same symptoms. I am happy to hear that you are alive. This product needs to be removed from the market.

I am glad your alive , You had your emergency surgery on the day I had my essure implanted. It should have not been on the market b/c here I am suffering and my life is drizzling away from me but I will fight.

Thank you to those courageous women who have shared their own personal stories. I was looking for a birth control method and a friend told me about essure. I am now certain that I will not be having this procedure. Thanks again for letting other women out there know the truth about essure. After having four kids, it is now my husband’s turn to share in the responsibility of our relationship and have a vasectomy.

I was presented with an Essure pamphlet two years ago and opted out of the procedure, it looked too advasive for my liking. I’m currently 38wks+ and my spouse and I are pondering who should get ‘fixed’. I’ve heard horrible stories about tubal ligation and cautious about the procedure. Thus bringing my option towards Essure, upon finding this website. I will state I’m positively and truly sorry that this has happened to you, and THANK YOU for sharing your story! This will detur me away from Essure indefinitely and spread the word about how dangerous this producer is! Thank you Penny, wish you the best of luck.

Add a Essure implanted August of 2009 and removed February 22nd 2013 . I experienced the following symptoms that caused me to have the device removed: severe pain in my right lower stomach, dizziness, headaches, general feeling of illness, severe hair loss, muscle and joint aches, and extremely heavy menstrual cycles that were super clotty and extreme lower back pain that shot all the way down the back of my legs sometimes making it seem as if I was going to fall while walking! I went back to the OB that implanted the device and was told that all of the symptoms that I was feeling was not related to the device. I went to dermatologist to find out why my skin and hair was going bananas only to be told that everything was normal. Finally I went to a different OB and he said that the device could be the source of some of my issues however I had developed a gross 2 more in my right ovary and had to have that removed during the hysterectomy needs to be removed from the market women should be forewarned that this device contains nickel. I am now 2 and a half weeks post op from my hysterectomy and I feel 100 percent better also I have some aches and pains from the surgery I don’t have the general feeling of sickness no headaches no dizziness all of those symptoms have disappeared. I am praying that as I recover that my hair, which had gotten extremely thin, will come back to its normal state. If you are contemplating on getting this device do not do it unless you are willing to put yourself through this type of pain and torture.

You know, I’m a week away from my Essure Pre Op, and two weeks from getting the actual procedure done, and I’m starting to think that I’m pretty glad about doing some last minute research before going into this. I’m definitely thinking that I’m going to find a doctor who will tie my tubes the way that my mom suggested.

  9. Beth Lucas says:

Hey, I was told by my OB, Measure can’t be removed. I was hospitalized 4 years ago because I got pregnant
With the Essure a life or death situation.

  10. Angelica says:

I am considering this procedure as I have five beautiful children and do not wish to have any more. I thought this would be the perfect choice for me as I suffer from severe migraines and this is a hormone free option. I really wish I knew of some people who actually had a good Essure experience. My doctor never offered me a tubal ligation, he made it sound as if this was positively my best and only option. I’ve worked in the medical field for over 14 years and I’ve heard and seen the perks offered by pharmaceutical reps, makes me wonder how good the perks are for every doctor’s referral for this procedure.

See my story below…….hope it helps. Good luck in your decision. Do whats best for you; don’t let anyone sway you one way or another.

  13. Gaylene says:

After many years of not getting pregnant, I was surprised at age 35 when I found out I was expecting. My pregnancy was horrible and I was sick from the very beginning. From bleeding to kidney stones to blood & protein in my urine, being pregnant was miserable as I spent many nights in the ER or doctors office. Nearing the end of 27 weeks, I was place in the hospital to be monitored for a few days because I was swelling terribly and my BP was in the 200’s. Going from preeclamptic to eclamptic in a few hours, I was rushed into an emergency c-section 3 days later to give birth to a 2 lb baby boy at 28 weeks. It was STRONGLY recommended to me that I never have children again because I would probably die. The doctor who preformed the emergency c-section spoke highly of Essure and I read up it before making the decision that it was the right choice of birth control for me. This decision was not about my finance having more children, IT WAS ABOUT ME and MY health. Nine weeks after having my son I had the Essure procedure done in the hospital; I was told I had to be put under and couldn’t just do it int he doctors office because I had never dilated. The procedure took about 20 minutes and then I was in recovery. I slept the rest of the day and woke up the following day to MAJOR pain (I don’t know who someone could go to work after having this procedure done) and the doctor called in some pain pills. After about 2 days, I was totally back to normal and didn’t think a thing of it for several weeks. Then one day my left leg went completely numb so I called the doctor who was insistant this couldn’t have anything to do with the Essure. She had me come in for an x-ray where it was determinded that this had “absolutely nothing to do with the Essure” but it “must be just a pinched nerve”. So after two weeks of muscle relaxers I was back to myself. My periods have been regular and only about 4-5 days (1 day being VERY heavy). I have noticed more headaches, back aches, weird side pains, or hip-like popping sensations then normal but I couldn’t tell you if they are medically related to the Essure or my BP, stress, going through the terrible twos, planning a wedding, etc. I know that for me, Essure gave me the peace of mind that I will never have to worry about pregnancy or preeclampsia again. All in all, it was not a bad experience for me but I did feel like I got treated like I was “crazy” for even thinking Essure might have these weird side effects or questioning my own strange incidences after having it done. I am relieved to know that people are speaking up and educating other so that they can can informed decisions for them selves instead of letting doctors tell us whats best for us.
