I had essure placed in December of 2013, 8 weeks after having my third boy, who was a preemie. My husband and i decided we were done having kids, and this proved to be the BEST option for us. What was supposed to be a simple procedure turned into a huge ongoing nightmare. the procedure itself hurt ALOT, and the dr had trouble getting the left coil in. Right after the procedure i bled so much i was passing out, and had horrible pain, my dr couldnt understand why. I had an ultrasound to make sure they were properly placed in my fallopian tubes, and according to results they were. a few months went by of non stop bleeding, pelvic pain, joint pain, migraines, brain fog, and silly rashes that would come and go. In march of 2014, my dr decided to do a D&C ( Dilation & cutterage) to try and stop some of the bleeding, At this point i was still on the pill and that wasnt helping ( including frequent double dosing!!) My d&c was ‘successful’ and he found everything in place and healthy and found no reason for such heavy bleeding, and it did not stop, and got worse when i would have my period. when i went in for my two week post op check, We discussed our options, and how the only explaination was the essure, i am allergic to nickel but was unaware of this coil being made of nickel. My dr and i decided it would be best to have a full hysterectomy. On may 1st, 2014 i had a full vaginal hystorectomy, he took my cervix, uterus, and part of my tubes. During surgery, injury to my bladder occured, causing my dr to stitch it, and i had to wear a foley catheter for a week while it healed. I also had a pelvic hematoma, causing my blood levels to drop. My pain continued, and my dr still had no answers for me. I recieved the pathology report and it stated that only one coil was retreived ( the left one), and i went to the ER 5 days post hysto, which resulted in a scan, showing that one coil was underneath my bladder. I went in for yet another surgery, June5, 2014 to remove my tubes completly. They discover tons of scar tissue, and many of my organs were adhered together because of it. He did an xray during the surgery, and seen the coil underneath my bladder, and did not feel comfortable removing. I am now waiting to see a Urologist , as this coil near my bladder has caused me so much pain in general, pain when i pee, etc., and my OBGYN has done all that he can do. SO here i am 26 years old ( barely, my birthday is june3 ), have underwent three surgeries, two major, in the last 6 months. I have lost my uterus, cervix, fallopian tubes, and all the trust i ever had in the medical field. My life is in total uproar because of this, and my family has suffered. Please think before you get Essure because it has been the worst decision i have ever made.
