Hi my name is Amanda. My husband and I live in a small community in between Madison and Milwaukee WI. We have 3 beautiful children. Our baby was our surprise of a lifetime in many many ways. Our 2nd child ( a beautiful girl) was a very, very tough pregnancy and yet easy birth. It was after her birth that I was rushed to the OR due to my placenta not detaching from the uterine wall. We the decided at that moment that we were very blessed with our 2 children a boy and a girl. My Dr. was very excited to have me NOT have a tubal ligation and go with Essure. When she described the procedure my husband and I were very excited to have the procedure done. I asked what if any were the side effects??? Her response ‘there are none. It is perfectly safe’ As I was having the Essure coils placed my Dr. Noticed that I not only have a mis shapen uterus but a large septum ‘wall’ in my uterus. Still ‘safe’! I had the depo shot and went in for my dye test 3months later. All confirmed that tunes were sealed. So life went on as normal. (Essure placed in April 2012, dye test July) Pregnant in November. We found out the first week in January 2013. Thought something was really wrong due to sickness and the obvious, no period. But no way could we be having another baby, I was 99.97% fixed. Lol. Well after numerous tests and ultrasounds not only was I pregnant I was extremely high risk, I had complete placenta previa. So at that point I knew I was going to c section (after normal vaginal births with my other children). At 29 weeks exactly I woke up in the morning with spotting., called my Dr and went right to the OB floor of the hospital. I was checked out and emidiatly put on an ambulance to Froedert in Milwaukee. As my husband and children watched me get wheeled away and not knowing what was happening. Scary feeling. I arrived and was sent to the OB floor (in the meantime my husband was looking for babysitters, contacting family in Illinois and trying to get to the hospital, still an hour drive away) while I met with Dr’s from OB, the OR, and the Nice. My husband arrived and family arrived in the nick of time, moments after they arrived I fully hemoraged. I woke up in recovery not knowing a thing…. Found it that I had a beautiful, tiny baby boy awaiting in the NICU. Our 2.6 pound baby who spent most of the summer at Children’s hospital Milwaukee . It was a long bumpy, scary road but we all made it. MY tubes are now tied, clamped and cautarized. No more babies. Now My body is some kind of screwed up… Thanks to Essure. Major cramps off and on all the time, bloating, bladder issues, the list continues… My Dr.’s suggestion, a hysterectomy. Well ain’t that just a fabulous way to get her off the hook. I’m at a loss… And am one very unhappy woman with Essure. On a fabulous note Our premie son is now a happy HEALTHY, chunky 17 month old. And in all that we are a very blessed family.
