Hi, I am a mother of three, when I had my youngest son in 2007 my Dr was supposed to cut and burn my tubes but that is not what he did. I am about to be 29 in March of this year (2013). All of my children have been c-section babies. When I had Joe I gave my Dr permission to cut and burn my tubes. I even specifically told him that I did NOT want any foreign objects in me. For the last 5 years I have had several health issues and when I would go to the Dr and they would do the tests everything would come back normal and everyone was left scratching their heads. Then a few months ago a Dr actually did an x-ray of the pelvic area. That is how I found out I had these things in me. I was a Medicaid patient when I had my son. I agreed to a sever and singe, not Essure Implants. I have been in the gym and working with a nutritionalist non stop for 3 years. We couldn’t figure out why I couldn’t lose weight. Well since I found out about the springs, the Dr and I have both been doing research. Not only did my OB/GYN not tell me that he was putting the springs in even as I said on the table ‘you are cutting my tubes now right?’ he didn’t even do the follow up that is required 6 weeks later. I had no idea they were in me I thought my tubes were cut and burned.
For the past 5 years sex has been uncomfortable, I have had inexplicable pelvic pain, I got Migraines once a month but they have now become more frequent (twice a week), I have a metallic taste in my mouth, nausea, dizziness, trouble sleeping. Now I seem to keep a cold or a sinus infection. I am allergic to the nickel these springs are made of. I contacted my OB and his nurse is trying to deny that he ever put them in and he refuses to get on the phone with me. I have lost my gallbladder and ironically enough it was my OB/GYN that diagnosed the gallbladder failure and still didn’t inform me that these things were in me. I have constant pain on my right side and if I bend or twist sharp pains put me in the floor, literally. They have caused me to gain weight as well.
In February of 2011 I weighed 201 pounds. Then for seemingly no reason my weight started to rise. I want to get these springs removed but the Dr I am working with says I am still to young to lose my tubes completely and I need the reversal procedure. There are two problems with this. First is money. I don’t have much and this is a $6,000 procedure. At the moment I am still a single mother and the only source of income for my children. I am also laid off and now have no insurance. Medicaid paid to put them in but will NOT pay to have them removed even with the fact that I had no idea they were in me to start with. I was married when I had my children. He was abusive so I am now divorced. The second problem is that you have to have a BMI of 37 or lower and be maintained at that for 3 weeks prior to the surgery. Right now I am at a BMI of 44.6 weighing 259.8 pounds. I am on an extreme diet right now to get my weight down. I have lost 10 pounds in a week which is good but slow. The other problem is that I have been at 220 and healthy since I was 16 years old. In order to get to a BMI of 37 I have to be at 213 or lower. The clinic I spoke with even suggested that I try talking with a consultant for SonoBello (which by the way was very nice and caring and informative) The problem there is you have to be at a BMI of 40 or lower to be eligible for that procedure. Which is closer but still hard to reach considering the circumstances. And it’s more money to come up with. The procedure starts at $1200 per area, which in this case would be my abdomen but I would be at the highest end of the scale and they can’t schedule a consultation for a solid price until I am at the right BMI. I have to weigh 230 pounds or less which is another 29 pounds I have to try to lose. Not to mention trying to get the money for the procedure. I would like to advise you all who are considering this procedure to not do it. It is NOT worth it and it is NOT healthy.
