I had the Essure procedure done on April 26, 2013. It seemed like the best option for me: permanent birth control, less recovery time, no surgery. I also got a depo provera shot a month earlier, to ensure that I would not get pregnant during the scarring time.
After the Essure placement (which was painful in my right tube but not my left), I started having intense stabbing pain in my abdomen (right where the tubes are), bleeding heavy and light since then (it’s now the middle of June, so for almost two months!), lower back pain, and mild to severe cramping. I cannot exercise like I used to, I’ve gained weight, having this constant irritation, pain and bleeding.
I called my OB/GYN and their nurse has always been the one to talk to me, saying that no, it’s not from the Essure, but from the depo. I’ve never had extreme pain, cramping and bleeding from depo, and I told her that it started only after the Essure was placed. She said she was sorry, that there was nothing she could do.
I’m going to a new OB/GYN soon for a second opinion. If they will not listen to me, then my only option is to wait for the confirmation x-ray in one month, and possibly request surgical removal of the tubes completely.
This whole process has caused me so much grief, pain, and heartache. I wish I had done more research before having this done.
