I had the Essure procedure done in spring of 2013 after the birth of my third child. The class I went to regarding contraception and sterilization, that is required for military members who want sterilization must attend, claimed that this was the easiest and least invasive and problomatic of any device. It’s only fifteen minutes and you’re good in a couple days. Well I woke the night after the procedure in horrific pain and contemplated the ER. I finally passed some blood and the pain lessened a little. The next morning and over the next few day the pain became less but never totally diminished. I went to my dye test 6 weeks later and learned the coil perforated my right tube and was in my abdomen. I’ve since had a tubal ligation and have had chronic pain of the abdomen since. MRI and CT-scan have revealed NOTHING. Today I finally got an appointment with a pain specialist that I was referred to (after a year) and they are stumped!! The mess they prescribed I can’t even get filled because no one carries them-bad decision on the doctors end to go with that drug rep. My next move us to have my tube and ovary removed to get SOME relief (I’m praying for this outcome).
I have pain from a previous car accident and sports injury, I can deal with it during the cold or hard exercise sessions. But this pain is chronic…daily! It feels like a mild ache at first and then builds like a birthing contraction for several minutes before it goes away, slowly. This occurs several times a day. Doctors are baffled about the phantom pain and I feel like I’m acting like a junkie wanting relief, but it’s there!!! I would never recommend this to anyone after the year and a half of pain I’ve endured with no explanation or relief!
I’d love to hear back from anyone else who is having issues. Please emaile me at amy.hinrichs@yahoo.com
