Ok.. Where to start… Well my name is Autumn Winspear, I’m a 29 year old momma of three beautiful girls, and have been married to my best friend for 8 years! When I met my husband we has a couple of things in common, we were both single parents, and we both had daughters, only two years apart in age. Then after we got married we had another beautiful daughter…. We had it all!!
A few years after our daughter was born, we sat down and discussed other birth control options since my current one was giving me migraines. We thought, well, we kinda have our hands full with three girls, my husband was gone all the time as a truck driver, and I had since become a stay-at-home momma to make up for daddy not being home, so we decided to go with a permanent approach to birth control. Since my husband was the only bread winner, we decided against a vasectomy. So that’s when we agreed that I would be the one to go through whatever decision we made, since I would be able to be home and recover. So we looked into what options we had… and that’s when we found, and chose, Essure. My husband took the day off so he could take me and all I can say about that day is it was ‘A Living HELL’
I had Essure done September 28th, 2009. The doctor that did the procedure gave me no medicine, he had problems with my right side and actually had to open another box to get another coil and placed that one in my right side. I was crying during the procedure, and I cried all the way home. I was in so much pain I thought I was going to die! They sent me home with no medicince for pain and just told me that the pain was normal and that I just needed to take Ibuprofen if I absolutely needed it. I didn’t know what to expect, I just knew I was in a lot of pain, especially in my right side. About a week or so later the pain had finally subsided and I went on living my life.
After 3 months I was suppose to go back and have the HSG test done, but my insurance wouldn’t cover it, and I definitely couldn’t afford it, so I just didn’t have it done.
Fast forward a year or so later and I had some major health issues going on that I was thinking had to be my thyroid. I went to my PCP with a list of symtoms including: changes in my cycle, depression, hair loss, fatigue, weight gain despite diet and exercise, joint pain, and constipation, and I had it in my mind that I had an underactive thyroid. But after my doctor ran a T4 blood test on me that came back normal, he basically told me that it was all in my head and sent me home. But I know my body better than anyone, and something wasn’t right…
A couple months later and I started having dibilitating migraines. I mean they were the ones that made me turn off all the lights, turn off anything that made sound, send my girls to my mother-in-laws, and pray that last nights dinner would just stay down. So back to the doctor I went, this time to the eye doctor to make sure it wasn’t my eyes. That’s when they diagnosed me with psuedotumor cerebri, which pretty much covered everything the migraines were causing including: severe headaches that started behind the eyes, would wake me from sleep, they would get worse with eye movement, ringing in my ears that would pulse with each heartbeat, nausea, vomitting, dizziness, blurred vision, blindness for a few seconds mainly in my right eye, poor periphial vision during migraines, double vision, my little fireflies in my eyes as I called them, and neck, shoulder and back pain. This was where I racked up on some MAJOR hospital bills with all the test they put me through… MRI, MRV, spinal taps, blood patch, and MANY doctors visits, all to tell me that I had under developed veins in the right side of my brain. So I went home taking these huge pills and pills that made anything carbonated taste like metal. But after a while these medications were giving me more migraines, so after the elders of my church laid their hands on me and prayed….years later and I still have no headaches only a few every once in a while, like a normal person. There IS healing in prayer!!So I went on living the best I could. Like I said before, there was something not right with my body, and it seemed like everyone was making me feel like I was crazy and that it was all in my head. That’s when I got really depressed and started having suicidal thoughts, I had reached an all time low and n
othing seemed to help. Then one day as I was PMSin’ and hurting really bad on my right side, it dawned on me…what if it’s the Essure? So I started looking up difficulties with Essure and that’s when I found a group on Facebook called ‘Essure Problems’ After a few stories that I had read, I was in tears. Absolutely sobbing…. I had finally found a group of women that knew exactly what I was going through! I knew I wasn’t crazy!!!! So I called the doctor that did my Essure and low and behold, he’s not practicing anymore. So then I called the OB/GYN that delivered both of my girls and after a visit to him, he told me that I needed a hysterectomy ASAP. But.. I don’t have insurance and my husband makkes too much for me to get help through Medicare….so I’m living with it…for now. I will find a way to get these monster’s out of my body, and I will do my best I can to keep my head up until they are GONE!!
So here is a list of all the side effects I’ve experienced after having Essure done:
