As a 39 year old mother with 3 small children, ages 3,4 and 5, I am writing this to help other women considering having the Essure procedure done. Don’t do it. I had this done Jan. 20, 2015, 3 weeks ago. My life since then has been turned upside down. The procedure itself was excruciatingly painful, even with the local and the cocktail of meds they gave me. It was almost as painful as childbirth. My blood pressure shot up to a dangerously high number but my doctor continued anyway. On my left side it became unbearable and he turned to his nurse and said, ‘I think I may have gone too far. That’s why she’s having so much pain.’ I wanted to kick him in the face and tell him, ‘Opps, sorry. Guess I went too far.” After I went home I was supposed to be able to be up and about but that was not the case. After taking more meds, I was in bed for 2 days in agony. The pain was some of the worst pain I have ever experienced. For the past 3 weeks I have been dealing with headaches, horrible cramping, constant bleeding, bloating and severe fatigue. I have been in tears from the pain in my lower back and stomach. This is by far the worst mistake I have ever made. There are days when I am in such pain that it is debilitating. After intercourse with my husband the cramping is worse. This has caused me to start being depressed. A person can only take so much. I’ve made a complaint to Bayer and to the FDA. I hope to see this garbage taken off the market.
I had to undergo a partial hysterectomy a few months weeks ago for other health reasons and I asked my new GYN to take the coils out because the left side was poking me, I could really feel it. The doctor ended up only having to take my uterus because both coils had floated into my uterus, and were poking through. Once the surgery was done, the pain was gone. I felt so much better.
