I had the essure procedure done in the summer of 2009 after the birth of my fifth child. I was 30 at the time and was certain I did not want anymore . I talked to my doctor about permanent birth control but the only procedure he was willing to do after my six week check up was the essure. I was told that was the only procedure I could get done right away or I would have to wait three months for tubal ligation. The only reason I opted to go thru with the essure is because I do not do well with most birth control. First after the procedure was over I was in utter and severe pain for at least three days. Then I also started having pain during intercourse and the weird thing is I mainly feel the pain on the left side of my uterusWhen my period came for the first time after having had the essure placed my cramps are worst than they have ever been in my life. Not only is it bad enough that I have horrible cramping but the bleeding is so heavy that I can feel it just gushing out of me. I have never been a heavy bleeder in the not even after child birth. My period will last for more than seven days if I do not use tampons. I know that sounds crazy but it is true, the tampons somehow help stop the flow. I have to use pads for the first 24 to 48 hours because of the excruciating pain I am in from my cramps. After three months of them being placed I went in for my follow up with my doctor and I explained how I was not happy with the results. I explained the pain and discomfort I was experiencing and was told that I needed to just give my body time to adjust. Well here I am almost five years later and still no change. I don’t bother complaing any more because I feel like the doctors just don’t listen and think its all in my head
