My name is Christina and I am a mother of five. I gave birth to my 5th and final child in 2006 and decided to research permanent birth control solutions. I read everything I could and liked the fast recovery time that the Essure procedure offered since I had an extremely busy life and couldn’t be recovering from a procedure for weeks. Needless to say I had the procedure done in 2008 and have had problems since. I had everything from intense lower back pain, cramping, overall body pain, joint pain, and severe bleeding. In May of 2010 I ended up having to be put on iron pills for three months because my blood iron levels dropped to a 2 due to the severe blood loss during my periods. My doctor told me that I would probably have to take the iron pills until I hit menopause. I was only 39yrs old at that point. He told me that I needed to go ahead a have a hysterectomy which I did in September 2010. He removed my uterus but left my ovaries and I am not sure if the Essure coils are still in my body at this point but all I know is that I am 43yrs old and I feel miserable. I still have intense back pain, cramping, joint pain, and overall body pain. I feel like crap all of the time. I wish I would have never gotten the Essure procedure.
