The Essure coil implants impacted me tremendously and have been the worst experience of my life. Initially, I was told to insert the coil implants would be a quick procedure and would only cause slight discomfort and would need to be followed up with a contrast HSG to view the device and confirm it was placed correctly and tubes were sealed. The entire ordeal was devastating, I was out of work for weeks and experienced a great deal of pain and discomfort during this time. After the contrast was verified and the fallopian tubes were correctly sealed the following six months proved challenging. I continued to push through each day taking care of my son and going to work with the pain, just trying to deal with it, but it continued to negatively impact my every day life. After several years and continued issues, it evolved into extreme pain, chronic fatigue, autoimmune disease, and countless days and time with my family and work being missed. Both my Rheumatologist and OBGYN confirmed my body was having issues with the Essure device and exploratory surgery would need to be performed to remove the Essure coils. In 2013 they were successfully removed, but I continue to struggle daily with the damage the Essure coils had already caused my body. I deal with the continued pain and chronic fatigue daily, I lost my job and hope that at some point the damage can be undone and I can begin to lead a more normal life. I would not wish the pain and suffering I have experienced on anyone. I am optimistic that people can become better informed – preventing future victims…
I had the procedure done three years ago and i had bleeding for three months after the placement and ended up pregnant last year. I know that the coil is in my uterus via ultrasound. Do not have this procedure. It will just ruin your life.
