I had the Essure procedure done in October of 2010 after having my daughter in July. I was told that this was an easy procedure with no down time and at the time it seemed like the perfect procedure. I had three previous surgeries and I didn’t want to have a tubal ligation because of my previous scars. After the procedure I had heavy bleeding and cramping and I never did before. My periods always lasted 3~4 days due to only having one fallopian tube, but after the Essure, they lasted 7~10 days.
The doctor said it was normal and to give it a few months. Amazingly, the effects did subside. I also remember reading in the pamplet that if you had one tube the procedure was not for you. My doctor assured me it was ok. After the Essure I had skin tags removed and the office never checked to make sure my insurance covered it. I was ultimately stiffed with a bill of $950 and they said that I would not be able to receive services from the clinic until the bill was paid in full.
As a result, they refused to see me for the followup with the Essure. I found out last week that I am 7 weeks pregnant and it’s not ectopic. I think that the Essure fell out sometime before my periods became normal. I am still not sure if it is still intact and might never know. I am now feeling betrayed, scared, and alone. I am scared about caring for this baby since I have two already. After reading the testimonies of other women, I feel some comfort knowing I am not alone.
