Subject: Essure procedure complications, time-line of events for Crystal Walquist
Essure procedure complications that led to having to have a hysterectomy. The hysterectomy was done by the same doctor whom performed the Essure procedure. La Divinci robotic laser machine was used to perform the hysterectomy, below is a time line of emergency room visits, doctor visits, and details of the problems that I have to deal with. The entire problem could have been eliminated if the Essure procedure was not even an option. I am at a loss for what to do or how to get my life back, I want to be fixed so I no longer have any complications. I appreciate any advice or information that could help me I would greatly appreciate.

April 30th, 2012 follow up visit with Dr. Cobb at St. Francis OBGYN. Follow-up from sonogram
May 4th 2012 I was seen at St. Francis E.R. For severe abdominal and lower back pain.
May 8th 2012 I had a partial hysterectomy performed by Dr. Cobb at St. Francis hospital. Dr. Cobb used the da Vinci Robot to perform the hysterectomy.
I went home from St. Francis after the hysterectomy on May 9th 2012, after being home I lost control of my bowels, and bladder at least two times by May 17th 2012. At home I was recovering from surgery by resting and having my boyfriend take care of me. It was until I felt something wet on my leg before I realized that I had no control of my bladder. The same issue occurred with my bowels also, I had no idea that I had gone to the bathroom. I immediately contacted the doctor on call, but was very reluctant to have anyone from St. Francis OBGYN provide further care due to the ongoing problems. After these issues I decided to switch OBGYN doctors and scheduled a appointment with Dr. Bonebreak at Lincoln Center.
May 17th 2012 I was seen at Stormont Vail E.R. With severe pain in my lower back, loss of control of my bladder and bowels. I did not feel as though something was healing correctly. After the visit to Stormont Vail E.R, I contacted Dr. Bonebreak at Lincoln Center OBGYN to provide follow up care. I am not sure of the exact date I met with Dr. Bonebreak but he informed me that he was going to send me for tests at Stormont Vail. He also informed me that it could take up to 4 years before the extent of permanent damage could be found and would do what he could to help me.
June 1st 2012, a letter from Dr. Cobb’s office came in the mail stating St. Francis Health Center Physicians Clinics including Topeka OBGYN Associates will no longer be able to provide medical treatment and to find a new doctor. Which I had already done, because of the continual problems that were arising.
June 12th 2012, Dr Bonebreak sent me to Stormont Vail for testing to figure out what has been causing me to have continual infections.
October 9th 2012 I was seen at Stormont Vail E.R, with sever lower back pain. I was diagnosed with Acute pyelonephritis.
October 11th 2012 I had was still in severe pain, a friend of mine took me to Shawnee Mission Medical Center in Lenexa Ks.
February 27th 2013 I was seen at Stormont Vail E.R, with excruciating pain in my lower back. It felt like something was stabbing me continually with little knives.
March 3rd 2013 I was seen at Stormont Vail E.R, with excruciating pain in my lower back. It felt like something was stabbing me continually with little knives.
March 21st 2013 I was seen at Stormont Vail E.R, with excruciating pain in my lower back. It felt like something was stabbing me continually with little knives.
June 17th, 2013 I had lab tests again and put on antibiotics for another infection.
July 23rd, 2013, I was seen by Shari Strawder at Cotton Oneil office in Osage City. I was diagnosed with two different infections.
August 16th 2013 I was seen by Dr. Seaman my regular medical doctor for another infection
September 26th 2013 I was in the E.R. @ Stormont Vail with severe pain in my lower abdominal area, the E.R. Doctor ordered a Cat Scan which showed I had cysts on my ovaries. I also was diagnosised with a bacterial infection again.
October 1st, 2013 I was seen by Dr. Seaman at Cotton Oneil office in Osage City, this was a follow up from E.R, visit on September 26th. Dr. Seaman instructed me that I needed to schedule an appointment with Dr. Bonebreak because the issues that kept arising are out of his realm of care he can provide me. Dr. Seaman explained the issues that have kept coming back need to have a more in depth look at what is causing me to continually get sick. He speculated that when I had the hysterectomy done that I may have something inside that is not healing correctly or organs inside are not where they should be. That is when he instructed me that I need a specialist to take a further look.
I lost my health insurance and have not been able to afford to follow up with Dr. Bonebreak or proceed with further testing. I have been trying to live a normal life but due to the continual infections have affected my career, my sons life and my own life to the point I have had to rely on friends and family. My mother has been caring for my son due to the fact I have not been able to keep working or financially support myself or my son. Any guidance or information on where to turn for help to resolve my problems would greatly be appreciated.
Thank you for your time,
Crystal Walquist
