I got essure in November 2011, 3 months after my 4th child was born. My doctor had given me a handout about it at my 6 week check up. Knowing that I was considering a permanent birth control. I decided to go through with it because with 4 kids at home it didn’t require a long recovery and I could just get back to my normal activities after 24 hours. I bled at first for a few days. Then it went away, had my first period and it was a pretty heavy flow, but I just ignored it thinking that was normal maybe because of the scarring. I was suppose to have the due test done in Februrary of 2012 but my insurance was cancelled and I never went through with it. But I have had unprotected sex many times since then and haven’t been pregnant so I’m assuming it’s working. my forst strange side effect was this rash on my back and chest area which now I think has something to do with the nickel allergy that I have which I found out about because a piece of jewelry I was wearing gave me a painful rash. I still have this rash on my lower back and it’s very painful.Y periods are so incredibly irregular when I use to be so regular, now I’m seeing my periods anywhere from every 21-42 days I recently had a period that lasted 32 days that’s never happened to me before it was incredibly painful the entire time and the only reason it stopped was because my doctor gave me pills to make it stop. I have constant headaches, and painful cramping when I don’t have a period. I wish I would have never had the coils placed. If I had the money I would have them removed..
