The last 2 years have been absolute hell for my entire family and me. I had the Essure procedure in July of 2011. Within a couple of weeks I began having abdominal pain, vomiting and my hair falling out. My ob/gyn kept telling me it was just a coincidence, doesn’t have anything to do with the Essure. I finally went to the emergency room. They started an IV, did some tests and said that everything looked ok and sent me home. This was a Sunday. The following Sunday, the arm that I had the IV in was hurting really bad. I returned to the er and I had a blood clot that started in my wrist and extended all the way up to my shoulder. After being in the hospital for a few days I went home on blood thinners. I continued to have abdominal pain and vomiting. I went back to my pcp and he sent me to a GI. He did an EGD and then scheduled an ERCP. He thought that maybe my biliary duct was spasming and intended to ‘clip’ the sphincter to prevent the spasm. I had a day surgery procedure in October, on a Friday; I woke up Saturday morning with SEVERE pancreatitis. This was caused from him scraping scar tissue off of my pancreas. From that point on, I was in the hospital for weeks at a time, on TPN, IV nourishment. I developed 2 sudocysts on my pancreas that complicated things further. In February 2012 I found an ob/gyn that agreed to remove my coils. She had to remove the entire fallopian tubes to accomplish this. She actually gave me a piece of each coil in order to have them analyzed if necessary. Once she removed the coils, all the symptoms I had in the beginning ceased. I continued to have problems from the pancreatitis and continued to have vascular blood clots. In August of 2012 I finally found a doctor that would listen to me. They found that my pancreas had a blockage and had to remove 90% of my pancreas. My spleen was attached to the dead part of my pancreas and it had to be removed as well. I was in ICU for a month; I developed an infection internally that prolonged my stay. I have healed from my surgery, but continue to have abdominal issues due to all the surgeries I have had to have. I still have blood clots; I have also had 2 Pulmonary Embolisms. I developed these clots and PE’s in therapeutic range on warfarin. I now have to take Lovenox injections twice daily for the rest of my life. I also now am diabetic from the removal of my pancreas. Now, when I have to go to the ER for severe abdominal pain and vomiting, when my prescriptions cannot control the symptoms, I am accused of being a drug seeker. I am a paramedic and my reputation has been severely affected by all of this. I have now developed my left fingers turning blue and no circulation getting to them. I had an angiogram last week that showed no clot but the veins and arteries are closing and blocking the blood flow to my hand. I am seeing a cardiothoracic surgeon next week. He is going to have to remove a main vein in my arm to hopefully have all the little veins and arteries spontaneously open back up to compensate. I lost my job during all of this, they changed me from full to part time while I was out that caused me to lose my benefits, then terminated me last year without even informing me. I had called this last February to see if they had any hours available and I had to call the main office to learn that I had been terminated. I have contacted several lawyers and cannot get anyone to take my case. They keep trying to connect the Essure to the pancreatitis and that is not the case. I had the ERCP because of the abdominal pain that developed after the Essure procedure was done. I have lost 2 years of my life being sick and in the hospital. If anyone else picks my 9-year-old up from school, siblings or grandparents due to doctor appt etc, he assumes I am back in the hospital. Our home is about to be foreclosed on, my husband works overtime every week trying to keep up with bills. He drives 2 hours to and from work each day and gas obviously an issue. If I had NEVER had the Essure procedure, none of this would have happened to me. I need help. My medical bills are ridiculously high and have caused our credit scores to plummet. I don’t know what to do now. I can’t get anyone to listen to me and try and put this last 2 years together. If you have any ideas, PLEASE contact me and let me know. I am desperate!!!!!!!!! emtholly24@yahoo.com
