I had my my Essure procedure on October 2, 2006 at the age of 27. My doctor raved about how I would have less downtime and could continue with life within days. She told me all the down sides of just tying my tubes. Such as the failure rate of such surgeries. She had delivered my 1st and 3rd child so she knew our family was complete.
I felt great at first after the Essure was placed. Then my back pain started. Doctor said I had kidney infection. Then my normal monthly period started. It would last for 3-5 days. Then start back in 2 days . I bled anywhere from 20-25 every single month. The blood was dark red almost black every single time I changed my pad or tampon.
Doctor gave me the birth control YAZ. She told me the blood color was due to it being OLD blood from having my last child. I took YAZ for 3 months without any change. The back pains never let up. I had constant kidney or bladder infections.
Finally after bleeding for 14 months my doctor told me I needed a hysterectomy. She said that it was a cure all for the bleeding and bladder kidney infections. So I had my uterus removed December 20, 2007. My doctor left my tubes(w/essure) and my ovaries so I wouldn’t need hormone pills. The only thing that did stop after my hysterectomy was the bleeding.
I have now suffered with numerous pains and personal discomforts for nearly 7 years. I have suffered with headaches, blurry vision, weight gain, mild depression, sever back pain with the feeling my kidneys a being forced outside my body, hand tingling, metal taste in my saliva, etc.
I am currently without medical insurance so having any of my symptoms checked is money I just can not afford to pay. If I could go back I would never have allowed myself to have the Essure coils in my body.
