My Essure Story
I had the Essure procedure done on September 18, 2013. My doctor gave me the pamphlet and the typical speil. I was told I would be off work two days, and could return the following Saturday. (I had the procedure on a Wednesday). That definitely did not happen!! I was off for five days due to severe cramping. I saw my doctor after two weeks of dealing with the horrible cramps. She did a vaginal ultrasound, and said everything looked normal. She said maybe it was taking my body longer to get used to a foreign body being implanted. After that visit, I began bleeding heavily, and it lasted for about a week, then stopped. A week later the bleeding started again!! The cramps never went away during this entire time!! I put in numerous calls to my doctor, and she called the Essure rep several times. After five weeks of this and four call-ins at work, I couldn’t take it anymore!! She scheduled me for an abdominal X-ray and a CAT scan. Everything looked ok, so I was scheduled for a hysterectomy. It was done November 6, 2013. We took everything but one ovary, but the pain is gone now and so is the bleeding!!!!! I just wish they had told me these possible effects up front. I think they should at least pay for my surgery!! Thank you for listening!!
