Hi, my name is Jessica. I went to the doctor this morning April 3rd, 2015, and my obgyn that has done two of my c-sections, walked into the room. I had already signed papers to have a tubal ligation done, but for insurance purposes, I had to wait 30 days to ‘be sure’ that I was done having children. I laughed and said ‘Really?! 6 pregnancies, 5 live births, 1 teenage girl, 2 pre teen girls, an 8 year old boy with disabilities, and a four year old boy, and you don’t think I’ve had enough time to think about it?!’Anyways, I waited the 30 days and went back this morning ready to schedule the surgery. They brought up Essure the first appointment, but I told her I wasn’t interested. I didn’t know much of anything about but aside from knowing I’m done having children, I explained that I don’t want anymore foreign objects in my body (I have had the Mirena IUD for four years and I’m ready to be done with that too). This morning my obgyn came in and was convinced that they ‘created this procedure for people just like me’ (I’m overweight, and have had lots of surgeries). She explained they would give me a Valium and then a shot of toradol, then numbing medicine, then insert the coils. Then they would send me home with pain meds. That to me sounds like it’s going to hurt! She did say it was my decision and she supported me doing my own research before making a decision. As soon as I got to my mother-inlaw’s house later in the day, I was explaining what took place at the doctors. She went to Google and typed in Essure birth control. Immediately nothing popped up but horror stories. This page was the first one we clicked on. Because my name is Jessica, we clicked on ‘Jessica’s story’ first. I was already feeling unsure about the procedure so you can imagine how I felt once I started reading. Immediately I knew I was NOT going to be fooled into doing this!! I want all of you women to know how strong I think you are. Bless you for having to endure all of this horrible stuff, and THANK YOU so much from my whole heart for posting your stories! You saved me from going through all of this that you have all experienced. I am so very grateful to you all and I will keep you all in my prayers. I will sign the petition as well and spread the word as much as I can. God bless you Erin Brockovich for creating this page and helping to stand up for these strong women.
