I am a 30 year old healthy female. I had the Essure done in 2010. I have been going to the same Doctor for 15 years and trusted his opinion on the procedure. I don’t blame him, as I feel the manufacturer is misleading them as well. I do blame myself for not researching the Essure beforehand.
For the last year I have suffered every day with chronic abdominal and back pain, sudden sharp pains at the site of the coils, bloating, muscle spasms in my lower back, dizziness, nausea and exhaustion. My cycle used to last four days max and was light. Now it’s at least seven days and is heavy, with a massive amount of blood clots. This is not what I consider quality of life.
I went to the Doctor a year ago about the abdominal pain and blood clots, but it was brushed off. I went back to the Doctor a few months later with more severe symptoms and was informed that they had not heard of any ‘side effects’ of the Essure. When I went back to the Doctor two months ago he said he would get with the other Doctor’s in the practice and see if they had any patients reporting any Essure complications. I also asked about the nickel allergy that I was never informed about. My Doctor said that it was such a small amount of nickel that it would not effect me. I called the Doctor today because I now have a skin rash on the left and right side of my lower abdomen. Why is everyone in the medical field so blind to the thousands of posts by women on the Internet who all have Essure and the same symptoms, none of which I had before. The Doctor’s are meeting about this and are supposed to get back to me, we shall see what their answer is.
