I had Essure placement about 7 years ago. August of 2012 I started having severe right side pain while at the beach on vacation. When I returned home I went to the local urgent care because I was afraid I might have appendicitis. They did bloodwork and a CT scan and everything was normal. Several months went by and in April of 2013 I was in moderate to severe right side pelvic pain for several days. On a Sunday, I ended up in the ER again thinking it could be my appendix. Bloodwork was done as well as a CT. They basically made me feel like I was crazy because the doctor found no cause for the kind of pain I described. About a week went by and I was in excruciating pain one morning while trying to get ready for work. While driving, the pain was so intense I didn’t think I could continue driving. I called my GYN office, which was not the office that placed the Essure, and they told me to come in. I was sobbing due to the severe pain. The doctor that saw me did a vaginal ultrasound and she said the coils were not causing the problem and she had trouble believing I was in that much pain. Needless to say, I never went back to that office. I called my primary care doctor and she told me to go straight to the ER to have a CT with contrast. Several hours later with CT and more bloodwork nothing was found. Once again, the doctor made me feel crazy and said nothing should be causing that much pain. A year later I have no answers but occsionally still have right pelvic pain and a cramping, pressure feeling in the area of my uterus. I have a lot of joint pain and am very fatigued most of the time. I have unexplained edema that no doctor can pinpoint a reason for. I also have been diagnosed with anemia within the last 2 months which I have to take iron for. A couple more strange things that may not be related is over the last few years I notice the oil in my skin has a metallic smell and both of my big toes are numb on he outer side. Anyone have all of these things happening?
