After having severe hyperemesis to the point of hospitalization with two pregnancies I knew I was done and needed to do something to prevent it again. Doctors warned me that each pregnancy would make the hyperemesis worse. right after my 30th birthday my OBGYN convinced me to do ESSURE. More effective and non invasive as tubal ligation. The procedure was fine. Some cramping after for a few days. Then almost right away I started to get night sweats. Putting on weight (30 lbs in three years after maintaining my weight for a long time). My family doctor did a full hormone check a year ago and I have absolutely no progesterone and very low estrogen. I was in early menopause and got that diagnosis at 32. I’ve been having to do hormone therapy and trying to get my weight down with Weight Watchers. Even with the hormones I still put on the last 10 lbs and started losing clumps of hair. I was also having horrible mood swings, lack or energy, cannot sleep through the night, etc. And just this past month, 3.5 years after getting Essure, I skipped my first period since I was 14 that wasn’t due to being pregnant. I loved and trusted my OBGYN. I was promised no side effects. Had I known this would happen I would have stayed on the pill.
I feel for you Leigh! I have had mine for 2 years and have been in pain almost everyday. I have found a few doctors that will take out the coils but it’s very expensive. And I have the worst pain when having sex. I live in pain and exhaustion today because of the Essure.
My doctor convinced me to have this procedure when I insisted I want my tubes tied instead. Bad thing I got pregnant. Good thing, my baby boy is healthy. Do not ever trust your doctor when he tells you this Essure is good, this Essure has less downtime, this Essure is pain-free. All lies!
I had no idea there were other women suffering like me! I thought I was the only one! The doctors made me think I was crazy because this procedure is safe. I’m having surgery to look inside because I have been miserable since I got this done! Good luck to all us ladies!
