Hello,
My name is Lori and I am 50 years old and I had the Essure procedure done in 2009 along with a Novasure hydro uterine Ablation. I was having horrific cramping and bleeding and they put a Mirena Iud in the year before I had the Essure done, for that first year that worked great and then all my problems came back so my Gyno said we could try the Ablation and the Essure, so I went ahead with it and had it done, I was put under so I did not feel anything during the procedure. Afterwards I recouped just fine, I felt great and did not have a period for the next 2 &1/2 years and I thought to my self wow I should have had this done years ago! but, that soon ended and all different kinds of issues started happening.I would barely spot every great once in a while and right after my husband and I would have sex. then I started having cramps and they were getting stronger and stronger as time went on but still not really having any period. I started feeling bloated all the time and had just odd discomfort in my whole abdominal area over the next 2 years it just intensified and the cramps would last for weeks and then be gone for a few days to a week and then back again for weeks on end soon the cramps were so bad I almost went to the emergency room 3 different times so I finally went to my Gyno at that point and she did and internal ultra sound of my uterus and said it was all filled up with fluid. At this point she said That I probably had Post Ablation Syndrome and explained that it meant that because of the scarring of my uterus from the Ablation it was not letting any of the fluid or debris that built up to release and get rid of it so it has been builing up. She said there is no way to fix that but to have a hysterectomy. She did say that she could put me on a Progestin only pill for six weeks and see if that would make my body just assorb the fluid, so I did that and at the end of 6 weeks I was still having the cramping but not as bad. my Gyno told me then the progestin did not work because I should not have the cramps any more. She took me off them and did anther ultrasound of my uterus and said all the fluid was gone and so she said it may have been just shadowing in there 6 weeks before instead of fluid? my pain I was having was very prominate on the left side, never the right and it would radiat from the left over to the middle but was always on the left side. so at this point she said oh you might have irratable bowel syndrome and I said , NO ! I am pretty positive I do not. Just to rule thigs out and make sure it was not and to make sure it was not my colon she had me do a colonoscopy, which came back looking absalutely perfect! Well she then had her ultasound specialist look at the last ultra sound again and they saw something else and thought it might be the essure had moved so they did an x-ray and sure enough the Essure on the left side had come appart into 2 peices and she said one looked like it was sliding down into the uterus. She told me the only thing left to fix any of this was still a Hysterectomy, but now she might have to take my whole falopian tubes and ovary ot. So I left her office with them plan of having a Hysterectomy , but as time went on the cramps got bettet not that they all went away just better and when this all started my 83 year old mother with Alzhiemers had just moved in with me and I had to take care of here so I decided to put the Hystrectomy on hold. So now it has been about 8 months and the cramps are getting worse again and there is not a day that goes by that I do not feel some kind of odd feeling or discomfort on my left side. I have all kinds of weird pains and one day I feel good the next I feel bad and it just keeps going that way I have a rash that has been going on now for almost 3 years and they tell me it is Grovers Disease which has some thing to do with the sweat glands there is so much more like major weight gain, pain in my left leg , left foot, pain in joints in hips I could go on. I am a very active outdoors person and I am 5’8 and have always been very slim, people keep telling me oh all these things keep happening because you are getting old but I am so tired of hearing that because I know that what I am feeling is not normal and I know my body and this is not right.
Sorry this was so long but I wanted to give most of the story and was wondering if there are women with the Essure problems that also had a ablation and what happened when you got the Essure taken out? I am sceduleing an appointment today with my Gyno to finally get this done and taken care of!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank You, Lori Schanrock
