I had the essure procedure done in July of 2008, because my doctor said that it had a less recovery time and I was a good candidate. I thought about it and liked the idea that I did not have to have surgery. I had a very bad pregnancy a year and a half prior and needed to make sure I did not have any more children. When I went for the test to check whether it took or not, my left side did not take. So then I had to have a tubal litigation done for that side, and a bladder sling. I was having bladder incontinence, which I now know is related to Essure. I am still having bladder incontinence and the same doctor told me that I would need a complete hysterectomy in order to fix the sling. I opted to deal with the bladder issues. When he did the tubal on the one side he said that it punctured the tube and had to remove it. Then I started getting other side effects that I did not know were related to Essure until I saw it on the news the other day and I did my own research. I am also allergic to nickel and was not told that there was nickel in the springs. I get hives, itchy skin that is so bad that I scratch myself raw, a metal taste in my mouth and a numbness in mouth, lips and cheaks. I also feel very tired all of the time that I did not have prior to the procedure. I have been told so many things like I was depressed to I am low on vitamin D. I take 5,000 IU’s of vitamin D a day and it does not help. My periods are so irregular that it makes me nervous. I have never been irregular until I got Essure done. Many months I was so late that I thought that I was pregnant. I had fallen into such a depression that I was admitted to a mental hospital for a week because I did not know how to handle my life. Then I was put on so many and high doses of mental medication that I was a zombie. Then I could not loose weight and would blow up that I was told that I was allergic to wheat, dairy and soy. I took them out of my diet and I still have the same symptoms. I went to my OB and told her my symptoms a year ago and she thought that I was going into perimenapause and sent me for some tests and it came back negative. I told her that I was having pain in my lower right abdomin and they did tests and found nothing wrong. I also have terrible pain in lower back that cripples me some days. I cannot stand for any length of time because that makes it worse. I do have a slight herniated disk and the doctors do not understand why I have so much pain. It has to be the Essure procedure. I moved to Georgia 5 months ago from New York and I will need to find a doctor down here that will be willing to listen and have an open mind. I am not sure if I will be able to get them removed because of the cost, but I will weigh my options carefully this time.
