Hi my name is Maray Brandon. I had the Essure device placed in me 4 months after giving birth to my son in 2006. I went to see an OB/GYN doctor at University of Maryland Hospital because of religious beliefs at the hopsital I had given birth at. After I had the Essure placed in I bleed for 5 months with medium to severe bleeding. I was discharge large blood clots and when I call the doctor that did this procedure after month after I was told it would decrease. In March of 2007 while attending a family member party my sight went completely black, shortness of breath, my heart rate increase and I broke out in a sweat. The shortness of breath, rapid heart rate and the sweat out break wasn’t new but the loss of sight was. I told my spouse to take me to the ER because something was abnormal. After I went to the ER and test were ran on me I was told I was severely anemic and they weren’t surprise I didn’t have a heart attack. Iwas admitted for a blood transfusion and the month after that I was getting a partial hysterectomy. While watching a news program a year ago there were some women who were bring awareness about the Essure device and the light bulb went on I have the Essure device and everything those women were describing was me! So I started to research and read more about it. All this time I was believing these problems was due to the hysterectomy but I remember I still had the Essure device inside me. As of today May 5, 2014 I still have device and I learned it can be removed. I am having very sharp pain in my cervix, left side pain that radiate dowm my leg, lower abdominal pain, and some vaginal odor at times. I feel like my menstrual could still come on and sometimes the feeling of needing to push like I am about to deliver a baby. I have learn that there are so many women out there that share my same store. I feel sadden to learn that I had to get a hysterectomy and to me I lost some of my womenhood.
