In August I had my 5th child. I knew I was done having children. So I told my Doc to tie my tubes. He excitedly told me about essure. I asked what side effects there were and if I would gain any weight. He assured me that there’s nothing to worry about and recovery time is a couple of hours. (He kept telling me that he can do it in under 2 minutes and that he loved doing this procedure and loved timing himself). It sounded to good to be true. So 6 weeks later I’m in his office about to get essure. They give me a shot in the hip/butt and give me a pill. I was loopy after 45 min. It did not help with the pain. I watched the t.v. that had been provided so that I could watch what they were doing inside of me. It was painful but not as painful as giving birth. When they were done I was hurging and nauseas, so my husband took me home to take a nap.
The next day I was still loopy and feeling sick and had pain. Little did I know that the pain I was feeling was permenient, along with extreme bloating, HEAVY periods, sharp pains that shoot down my legs and a decreased intrest in my sex life. I told my nurse about it while we were discussing the biopsy I needed and she said the pains are not normal but couldn’t bring me in because I no longer have insurance and can’t afford it. I will never recommend essure to the people I love and care about
