In febuary 2011 I had a consultation with my doctor about forms of birth control as I had six sucsseful preganancies and my family was complete. I wanted to make the best decision that would be the least invassive to me. My doctor was all about the Essure Procedure and reassured me it was a great alternative to the old way of tying the tubes, less down time ,no surgery sounded great Right? I had the sugery performed in my doctors office and sent home. Everthing seemed to be fine and went on my merry life of things then I started not feeling well. I had headaches and I had pregnant like symptons but was having 3 periods a month. I contacted my doctor and I went in and he begin to do an ultersound on me to look at the placement of the coils he said everything looked good but we had to do something about my periods which he called not normal so on this day he reccomennded to me to have an ablation now I don’t know if anyone has or has known anybody to have this procedure but in lamens terms they go in and cartierize your uterus and this sluffs off the part that continues with the menstral cycle. I was game to anything that would keep me from bleeding three times in a month. I still had the Essure coils in but wastold there would be know problem with this procedure and I would be up and running. In Febuary 28th 2012 just a year after the placement of my Essure coils I had my Ablation in my doctors office and then sent home. The next day I woke up feeling ok my husband went to work and my daughter was coming over to help me with my then 2 year old son. It hit me like a ton of bricks my stomach felt like i had been repeatedly kicked in by someone I was in so much pain.I called the doctors office they said to get into a hot bath an relax what little good that did by this time I told my daughter that she needed to get me to the emergency room. When I arrived I could not hardley stand i was in the worse pain and nothing was stopping it the nurses with the ER doctors instructions administrated pain meds and a M.R.I. I thought I was going to dye and pleaded to the doctor not to let me die later I was life flighted to another hospital that was close to the doctor that performed the surgery. It felt like hours and even with all the pain medicene nothing was touching me when arrived to the other hospital the ER team assessed the problem and sent me on my way to a room of mine own. I sat in that room for 6 awful hours plaeding to my husband that something was wrong and i felt like dying. My husband finally demanded the attention of the doctors which the took me up to the operating room and perfomed so called explortory sugery and in this found that my essure had migrated out and my bowel was perforated. The doctor immediatley aked for a general surgeon and performed the replacement of the Essure coils and the other doctor took care of the bowel. 2 hours and 45 min I returned to my room with a tube down my nose and into my stomach and a cut from my pelvic bonr up past my beely button. The doctors tried their best to ive every reason this happened but in my mind I know that it was from the Essure coil not placed correctly then when i had the ablation the tools used in this sparked and arched of the coils causing the uterus and bowl to be perorated. I was realeased from the hospital 8 days later with little reassurance that this was the end and in so much pain and betrayed by the doctors I contiuned to try to get better and get more answers. Well the story did not end here I never got better i was still in pain and nothing i did could make me fill so. In August of 2012 I found another doctor that recommended I have i Hysterectomy to see if that would help. So on Sept 11th 2012 I had a full hystercotomy and my doctor said that my uterus was full of puss pockets and my Essure coils were not in the right spot. I have been feeling good but what sadens me is that I have gained weight and my body misses the natural harmones that my body produced. I have alot of up and down momements and would never give advice to any women to have the Essure procedure done.
