I had the essure procedure done in 2009. My OB-Gyn at the time was sold on the procedure. (Funny but he also sold me on the transvaginal mesh implant around the same time) Not long after I had the procedure, I did not have my period for about 6 months. After that I began having mild periods, but then they got stronger and very heavy bleeding. I started hearing about the transvaginal mesh problems and was concerned maybe it was from that. My OB-Gyn told me that I needed a hysterectomy because he did a vaginal ultrasound and that he found a lot of cysts. I didn’t feel comfortable with him any longer at this point. Meanwhile, the bleeding became worse and worse. I went to another gynecologist and she told me that I needed to have a D&C ablation. She also informed me that I did not have the cysts that he told me about.
I wasn’t in a position to have the procedure done at that time. However, the bleeding became unbearable and was disruptive even at work. I could not sit at home and even play a simple game. Out of nowhere, I would start bleeding so heavy and large clumps of blood were coming out daily. Even the heaviest of the nighttime feminine pads with the super tampons together were not lasting me any time at all. It would just happen so unexepectedly and I had to change my clothes. I had to bring a change of clothes to work. Several times it would happen and I would be runnign to the bathroom and it would be so heavy that I bled through my clothes and it got on my furniture and rug as it went through my clothes. I had to change tampons and pads at least every half hour if not more. Not only that but I was having to drink lots of fluids, water, as I was getting anemic from all the blood loss. I began gaining even more weight. I was embarassed and began fearing for my job. I finally went back and scheduled the ablation.
Since i had the ablation, I have had no more bleeding. That was April 25, 2013. To make matters worse, our insurance company denied paying the hospital visit about $10,000. in bills because they called it a pre-exisiting condition. They said my doctors office did not get the pre-authorization. I can’t afford all of the medical bills this hads cost me and the collection agency is harassing me to pay the hospital bills.
