I gave birth to my ninth child in Aug. of 2011. Trying to not have more children, I was told of this wonderful sterilization by my doctor. She told me if I had an Essure sterilization that basically I would keep my organs, and not need hormones. She also went on to tell me it was a simple proceedure that would scare up my fallopian tubes and cause me no issues. I was told so many positives, why not get this done? WRONG…I began having heavy cycles, many headaches, my hip started hurting, all the time pain in my lower abdominal area, and many other things to tell me something wasn’t right. It was only a few months later that I found out that the coils were perferating my uterine lining and that they were pushed up too high? The doctor told me that this doesn’t usually happen? Reading many things I do now, I see I am not the only woman who suffered at the hands of this proceedure. I ended up having to have ANOTHER hysterectomy last summer 2012 to remove my tubes and uterus. I was able to keep my ovaries. I have to say having the coils removed was the best thing I could have done! I am not hurting in my stomach anymore, and the headaches subsided. I also do not have cycles now, and finally feel free from the turmoil that this proceedure caused. I hope nobody gets this done, it seems unsafe, and having double hysterectomies is not fun!
