I had the Essure procedure done when it was fairly new about 6 years ago. Ever since I have had unexplainable illnesses. My primary care physician often jokes how much he enjoys seeing me because it challenges him and that I would of been a perfect candidate for the show House. It began within the first year after having the procedure done. I became extremely ill with what I thought was just a stomach bug, but then it got MUCH MUCH worse. After being bed ridden for a week and unable to consume and keep any type of nourishment down I woke up one morning with pink eye in both eyes and very swollen joints. Swollen to the point that my left leg was twice the size as my right and I couldn’t walk. I was admitted to the hospital and multiple test were ran after not being able to pin point the cause I was diagnosed with Reactive arthritis. The pain and swelling continued to worsen and even spread to the point that I had arthritis in my knees, fingers, lower back, and toes. After almost a year on multiple medications including prednisone and numerous trips to a variety of specialist I was able to slowly quit taking the meds, but to this day I still have outbreaks and nobody can seem to explain them. I also developed a lupus like rash on my face in fact 3 different doctors diagnosed me with Lupus until the blood and lab work came back showing that I do not have it and they can’t explain what could be causing the painful and horrible looking rash. On top of all this I have had much worse periods since the procedure cramping is much stronger, bleeding is heavier as well as a lot of clotting. I would not recommend this procedure to anyone. I hope that we get some kind of help and can prevent others from going through all of this.
