Hello everyone. I too researched for weeks before getting essure done and never found negative thing online. I had the procedure done in April of 2011, 4 months after my 2nd child was born. I also had a 1yr old at home and it seemed like a no brainer. No recovery time, so I could still care for my kids as a stay at home mom for 60-70 hrs a wk. Well I was wrong! It was supposed to take 30 mins tops, it took 2 hrs and I was in awful pain.
The Doctor tried to insert the 1st set and it wouldn’t release from the lever thing, so she went and got a new set telling me it was a bad set. She tried a 2nd time only to get each one stuck in my tubes halfway in and left them hanging in my uterus, then grabbing another set without my knowledge and inserted them in all the way. After the procedure, I could barely walk. She told me they had difficulty because my uterus was in spasm and I would probably have bleeding and spotting for 4 wks tops. Well I bled from that day till November. All those months I went through hell, cramping back pain nausea, hair-loss and body aches. She ignored me and avoided me. I demanded to see her and she said it was just because I always had bad periods. She suggested removing my tubes and doing thermal ablation and tells me my body with past period problems isn’t taking good to the 2 sets of coils. I was pissed! She sugar-coated it all and said she would talk to the manufacturer. I later went to my Mother-in-Laws obgyn for a 2nd opinion. He did an ultra sound and was disgusted and told me he never blames another Doctor, but she lied to me that my best option was a partial hysterectomy because tubal removal could cause the coil to snap off and shards could get into my uterus!
I was so hurt and confused. I was 26 yrs old! The last week in November I had a partial hysterectomy with a camera to take pics of my tubal damage. The coil had came thru my tube on one side slightly. There was a bubble covering it filled with black fluid and pus. It was disgusting! Now, not even 1yr later! I am being tested for early menopause! Has anyone here had a similar experience and seeked legal support?
