My name is Samantha and I live in Dallas, Texas. I had the Essure procedure done on December 29, 2011. At the time, I was a 27 year old woman who chose to have the procedure because I did not want to be on birth control any longer due to the migraines the hormones were giving me. My husband and I did a lot of research on tubal ligation and Essure. I thought that it would be safer if I had the Essure procedure because it was not surgery. The procedure itself was not painful, but the symptoms I started having months later were not normal. Since I have had the Essure procedure I have had every symptom related to perimenopause, ovarian cysts, severe hormonal changes, extreme pain during sex, urine leakage, periods that are abnormal and the gap between them have shortened to two and half to three weeks apart. I had the procedure done in Dallas but then moved to Vegas. I have seen three doctors in Las Vegas about my symptoms and ovarian cysts. When I mentioned that this all started when I had the Essure procedure, they immediately told me that there is no way that the two are related and the easiest answer is to just go back on birth control. I refused to believe that is the answer. Sadly, I just found this website and all the similar complaints that other women are having as a result and I’m shocked and terrified. I will be seeing my regular gynocologist (the one who inserted the coils) to have my hormones checked and an ultrasound to see if my coils have moved. I want to thank everyone that has posted their story. I have truly been struggling since having the procedure which saddens me because I thought it would be the greatest and simplest answer. My sincere hope is that they will pull this procedure off the market and try to make up for the damage they have done to us.
