My name is Santana Bitner. I had my Son on April 8, 2011. 2 Weeks after his birth, I chose to go with Essure. My husband was in the Military so I was seeing an OBGYN that I was not familiar with. The OBGYN made essure sound like the perfect way to go considering my husband was about to deploy and the recovery from the essure would only take a day or two. Well, I went with the essure and after the procedure I was cramping like crazy. The cramping never stoped. I was bleeding so bad, I was filling a pad every hour, so I called the OBGYN and they told me it was normal, and that it would get better. Well, a week after the procedure my husband deployed and I went home to stay with my family. At this point the cramping and bleeding were getting worse, so I went to see my OBGYN back home. My OBGYN did an emergency DNC and discovered something horrible. The essure had not taken and had embedded itself into my usterus. It was causing a large amount of bleeding and infection in my uterus. Because of the large amounts of bleeding and infection my uterus became necrotic and my OBGYN had to do an emergency Hysterectomy to remove everything. I was only 25 years old at the time. I had to have a unplanned emergency Hysterectomy and had to Red Cross my husband to return to the states because of all the medical conditions I was having. The initial OBGYN did not go over all of these complications with me because if he had I would have never went with essure in the first place. Today I am 30 years old and I am on Hormone meds and having alot of issues with my health because I had to have an emergency hysterectomy at such a young age. So please dont choose essure, it is not worth it.
