I had the Essure procedure done in 2010 after having my fourth child. My husband and I had decided that we no longer wanted any more children so I chose this procedure because the recovery time less than and any other procedure. The day of the procedure I experienced little cramping and spotting. After having my first period the bleeding just didn’t seem to stop. It wasn’t heavy but it was constant. I had the 1st die test done and the doctor confirmed that both coils were placed correctly and that my fallopian tubes were closed. After 8 months of the bleeding, pain with intercourse, and lower back pain I went back to the doctor. I saw him every month for 3 months and then he finally ordered a DNC and a biopsy of the lining of my uterus. While doing the DNC he had found that one of the coils had flipped around and was hanging out of my fallopian tube so he removed it and the bleeding stopped. About 3 months later I had another die test done to ensure that even tho the coil had been removed my fallopian tubes were closed. The die test which was reviewed by two doctors confirmed that they were. About 6 months later I found out I was expecting. Which was a complete shock!!!! I now have a beautiful and health unexpected 6 month old baby girl. I love my daughter to death but I am angry about the complication and my experience with the Essure.
