First, my doctor lied about how ‘simple’ the procedure was and how much pain I would experience. I don’t think he’s had a refresher course in a while for this (they should make them prove competency every so often) and the Conceptus rep had only 5 weeks of experience and was trying to help/proctor him, I’m not sure which.
During the procedure I experienced so much pain it felt like torture and I screamed almost the entire time!! The doctor kept jabbing me in the uterus with the hysteroscope constantly. I almost passed out from the pain a few times and vomited. I think my doctor should have stopped the procedure since this is supposed to be only relatively uncomfortable or the pain is only like that of a period. Well, mine was like natural childbirth, which I experienced so I know. I really don’t think he was prepared or experienced and the rep unprofessional. They did not give me any materials or information on what to expect/watch for after the procedure and for days it felt like my uterus was bruised up and hurt.
A few days afterwards, I tried to talk with the doctor about how much pain I experienced and he brushed me off like it was all me! I was cramping again. He never asked about any other symptoms I was experiencing so I had to keep asking him about my fever and spotting. I did get antibiotics, which is good, but he didn’t ask me to see him for any follow ups or offer any additional information other than the basic answers to my questions.
It’s only been a week, but my bleeding is getting worse with some clotting happening now. I’ve felt sick all week with a low grade temperature, nausea, cramping and now my bleeding is getting worse. Everything I’ve read says nothing about this!! I feel like my doctor is useless now because he’s afraid of a lawsuit. He keeps telling me what I’m going through is normal, but I don’t think so and am trying to follow up with my family doctor. Unfortunately, it’s a holiday weekend and I may have to go to the ER instead.
