I never imagined at this point in my life I would be suffering from a series of illnesses all at once. I decided to have the procedure just before my 40th birthday, our children were in high school and middle school at this point, and I wanted the freedom of not having to take hormone pills to avoid pregnancy. At first essure seemed almost healthy and natural while reading the brochures, a sure bet with no side effects listed. My doctor recommended it!
I have suffered major health problems since the procedure. I developed Multiple Sclerosis, was hospitalized with a mild stroke (TIA), have constant headaches, pain that does not cease, and my symptoms continue. I have had to leave work after nine years due to the many problems I have faced as a result of these illnesses. My job at a private independent school allowed me to provide a wonderful education for my children, one that I would never be able to afford on my own. I have become reclusive in my home for fear of a dizzy spell, a fall or nervous reaction that I can not control.
I am saddened to hear of so many woman who have suffered like me because of this procedure – I am also by your side. I hope that we can all see the day when our health is not the biggest problem in our lives, but the boyfriend our daughter decides to bring home. I look forward to a day when I can enjoy life again, cook again, have energy to be a part of my family again. I am scheduled to have the removal of essure in the next few months. I will look forward to that for now.
God bless each and everyone who suffers,
