My name is Tina, im from oklahoma. Im 34 years old and the mother of 4. After the birth of my 4th child my physician suggested the essure device because i didnt want to use birth control for fear of the long term chemical exposure. In December 2011 my physician placed the device in and by January 2012 i had severe bleeding and required a d and c. I continued to suffer from side pain, back pain and intense bleeding. Finally the pain was too much for me to bear and after being repeatedly ignored by my ob i went to my family dr in September 2012. After conducting an ultrasound she found the essure device had perforated my uterine wall and required an emergency hysterectomy. On September 14, 2012 i had a hysterectomy. I have battled weight gain, premenopausal symptoms, migraines for which i have to take daily medications for and have been rushed to the er twice because of these migraines. My own life has been turned upside down since December 2011 when the essure device was placed. I still suffer from hormone imbalances and have tried hormone replacement. Im not the same person i once was. I filed a complaint with essure and they basically said ‘sorry’ & that was it. I hope my story helps other woman feel encouraged to come forward.
