I had the Essure procedure done back in either 2007 or 2008…I can’t remember. It was a fairly new procedure when I had it done. After the procedure, things changed. My periods became very very heavy. I had massive clots every month for about 24 hours straight. Very bad cramping. It hurt BAD. I thought it was normal. I didn’t see any reason for concern. Matter of fact, after the procedure, when I had the 3 month check up where they check to make sure your tubes are blocked, the doctor told me that the pain I would have after that procedure was ‘not anything a glass or 2 of wine couldn’t fix’…..so after that, i took to drinking wine (lots of it) to dull my period pain. After a while, it jsut got worse where I could barely function during my period. I went to the doctor, who sent me for a ultrasound.. they found nothing. made me feel like i was crazy. more time went by. i finally called the doctor who did the procedure and went in. The first thing she asked me was ‘are you allergic to nickel? do you react to cheap made jewelry’? I do actually. I can’t wear any cheap jewelry or i break out. She says….well….the coils we put in have nickel in them. we will take them out. they decided to do an entire hysterectomy. So, April of 2012, I had a hysterectomy. Had my uterus, tubes with coils cut out, and cervix removed. The cervix was for other reasons….but I believe the coils with the metal i was allergic to was the whole problem. I was miserable for so many years.
If there is anything else I can share please let me know. I’d love to help any other women in this situation. I’m 38 yrs old with no organs. thankfully, i have 2 healthy little girls and 3 healthy step children.
thank you Erin for looking into this.
sincerly,
