I had the essure birth control procedure done in 2006 about a month or two after I had my daughter. I decided to have the procedure done for a couple of reasons I had a really rough pregrency with my daughter on bed rest at 23 weeks and delivered early and already had a son . My doctor had recommended this new procedure after I inquired information about having tubes tied. He said instead of having tubes tied he would insert coils into my tubes and they would attach and that this procedure would be non-reversible. He said that he would give me a depo shot after I had my daughter then I would come back a few weeks later and he would do procedure. I had the coils implanted a few weeks later he said with me having new baby this would be less invasive so it would be faster recovery. He said I should only have mild cramping and should be up and about later that day. The day I had the procedure I came home and had really bad cramping and wasen’t up continuing with my day as he had said. I went back for the dye test I think a few weeks later and had told him about some of the concerns I was having especially with my period. My period was very heavy I had such bad cramping but he contributed it to me just having baby and cycle getting back on track. At the time that sounded maybe right but it has been since 2006 and my heavy periods have not gone away. I have very bad cramping , headaches, lower back pain, weight gain, and bloating. Hopefully with so many of us writing about our stories you can help give us a voice about this procedure and let women out there know its real side affects and let them make the decisions based on facts and not be mislead about a procedure that will affect you daily. Thanks
