I’m not one to share personal experiences, but after reading the stories of so many other women I thought I should share mine as well. In October of 2009 I had the essure procedre done. After 4 kids we were done having kids and wanted something permeant. I have never had surgery of any kind and wasn’t sure if I wanted a tubial ligation. After researching different forms of birth control and sterilization we opted for the coils. What was suppose to be an easy 15 minute procedure turned into an hour and a half of pain. The doctor couldn’t get the coil to go all the way in the tubes and after several attempts he said they were finally in. Now I can tolerate quite a lot of pain, I had all my children natural with no drugs, but the day I went to get the dye test done to see if my tubes were closed was a day I will never forget. That procedure was so painful I thought I was going to die. And the result of all that pain was that my tubes were still wide open. So we are no better off than when we started. And the essure rep had the nerver to ask if I wanted the procedure done again, I would of course have to pay for it. The coils are now somewhere in my body and after reading other stories I am now wondering if my frequent dizziness, fatigue, lightheadness, heavy bleeding, back pain, pelvic burning, irratibility, insomnia, tingling and numbness of my feet and legs, among other things are related to the tiny little coils that were suppose to be this wonderful thing. Now the question is where exactly are they and can I get them out?
