‘I am an Ob/Gyn in Arizona. I just want you to know that although you call yourself a \’consumer advocate\’, looking out for people\’s best interest, your \’project\’ regarding essure is hurting, not helping people. It is THE safest and most effective method of sterilization that we have, and your scaring patients about it\’s \’risks\’ is doing great harm to our society. You make my job that much harder, and you expose patients to unwanted pregnancies, and sterilization procedures that are less effective, and carry much greater risk than essure. Please considering ending this \’project\’ and spending your life doing things that will actually benefit those that you claim to care about. I would be happy to discuss this further, if you have the courage to hear a dissenting view.’

I’m one out of the thousands of women who had the produce done, and I’m so upset that you still believe that Essure (E-FAILURE) is the safest method, really? Why don’t you do that procedure and then you will understand what we are going through as patients, the constant pain, all the suffering from this one product; which I believe is not safe. I’m the only one who has the same problem, so many other women are going through the same thing as I am. I had two coils implanted into my Fallopian Tubes, and one of the coils came out of my body. I feel constant pressure on the right side of my body where I still have a coil inside my tube. However where my other coil once was I feel nothing, I do not find that normal. No woman knows her body better than herself, all this pain is not normal, therefore I find this unacceptable, for this produce to continue being sold in the market. IT IS no where near safe, or 100% effective. There’s evidence to prove that concluding to all the pregnancies caused by this.

  2. April says:

Where in Az is this Dr? I’d like to warn allmy friends and family to NEVER go to him! Excuse me sir but you are wrong! Just because your a Dr doesn’t mean you know what your talking about. I’d like to see your opinion if this was implanted in you or someone you love! As far as your statements that we are leaving people unprotected from unwanted pregnancy… What a joke! Do you have any idea how many women have had babies after an hsg test showed they were blocked?? Including my niece!! A live baby isn’t in someones head!! Nighter are the countless miscarriages that women who have essure suffer.

  3. Mishelle Moore says:

In response to this gentlemans comment…
The only reason why your job is “more difficult” is because you now being asked to answer women’s concerns and issues that have been swept under the rug. Women have the right to know the truth.

  4. Connie maysonet says:

I agree someone help please if doctors are so for putting them in then they should be eager to remove them from patients that are suffering like myself. And stop saying that it can’t be removed in ga at the lakeshore hospital web states it can be removed? I don’t understand it. But u go understand this I will not give up until I find a doctor who cares for his or her patient well being in there future

  5. Shelly Gnewikow says:

I am so disgusted by the general first reaction of most every doctor of all of ours! Why must we all be “crazy”? Why must we all be guilty until proven innocent? Would it be so difficult to treat us like human beings who are suffering? Stand beside us in support?

We are all dealing with pain and all long list of other health issues on a daily basis while still trying to earn a living, raise children, attend to household responsibilities, be sisters, daughters, wives and girlfriends and on top of that we have to fight with every physician we see and beg them to believe us and help us?

Shame on the medical community and shame on this doctor!

    • Regine Patterson says:

Ageed to everything. I just had my Essure filled fallopian tubes removed yesterday & Omg I feel better already. What kind of person wants to spend their freakin days visiting pretentious doctors telling with their condescending & empathetic attitudes that they dont see what the problem could be & if you remove them those symptoms may not be relieved. We ladies have better things to do as you men all know. On top of that the doctors expect to be paid just to tell us we are crazy. I refused to pay one OBGYN 15$ when he didnt even touch me & said he didn’t know what Essure was. Get it out girls the fallopian tube surgery is better than what you are going through. GOD bless you all.

  6. Amanda says:

To the doctor that wrote this (I’m sure you’re on here),
I was just wondering how you sleep at night? Are you upset that our little “project” is taking finances away from your children’s college funds? Let me tell you what essure took away from MY children. For 3 years they lived with a mother that was in too much pain to play with them. For 3 years they lived with a mother that was so bloated and swollen from essure she had low self esteem and didn’t like to go to public places much. For 3 years they lived with a mother that was too tired to get out of bed and play. Well guess what! Mommy had a hysterectomy to have essure removed and got her life BACK!! I lost 20 lbs in less than 2 months doing absolutely nothing special to lose the weight, my energy level is off the charts again, and the pain is GONE!! My doctor never warned me of these potential side effects and she wouldnt listen when I told her I was having issues since having essure placed. I am DONE listening to doctors that won’t listen to me! So you can try all you want to shut us up, but its not going to work. I’ll tell you what you “doctors” have been telling us…Take two Advil and go away!! Sweet Dreams!!

  7. Erin B. says:

    Amanda,
I applaude you. Everything you went threw i am going threw with essure. After my last of four children, twins i feel terrible. My self esteem is in the dirt, im so over weight i cry on a daily basis. Its even harder bc people assume i just let myself go after the twins, i walk around and still look five months pregnant, when my twins are three. I was also lied to, and never told of any side effects, or that i would be put on a shot, depo shot, while healing. I have constant pain, depression, lack of energy, a weight gain that just stays, sweating, mood swings, i feel tge worst in history and im 27. I wosh a doctor would do a hystorectamy on me n get this out of me so i can come back. Thank you for ypur words, it gives me hope and knowing their are people who get it, bc everyone else thinks its me eating too much, not exercising, or in my head. It isnt bc i feel what you said is what ive said for three years now. God bless you.

  8. Christine DeShields says:

    Hi Amanda,
My name is Christine and I was planning on getting this procedure done this month, but reading everyones story I’m second guessing this. Don’t know to many people that had this done and was really unsure.

  9. Susie says:

I was planning on having this procedure done that was encouraged by the doctor and agreed to do this on Oct 3, 2013, however after reading all this I will not be having this done., Thanks for putting this out there.

  10. Ashley says:

I totally agree with Christine. I am scheduled to go Sept 30th, but now I am scared!

  11. Veronica Larson says:

I am really sorry that their are Doctors that can really be like this. The truth hurts, and I guess his business is hurting and that’s why hes lashing out and telling lies.

  12. Jess says:

Yea did u have essure??? Have u had to have a total hysterectomy because the complications of this so called great birth control method??? When u answer the first question n the answer to the second is no then come back with ur ranting about how great this is!!! I’m sorry but this product is dangerous many women have had major complications from this!!! I am 28 years old wanted to eventually have another child but this completely destroyed my female organs!!! So until u can prove me and 1800+ women wrong then do some more research and some more training cause obviously we all have had major problems with it!!!

  13. I am for all of this support, but I have a question… Why would you have this procedure if you wanted to have another child? Isn’t this supposed to be permanent sterilization?

  14. Curious says:

Just one question: if you wanted more children, why did you get Essure? Isn’t it permanent?

  15. Sharon Laakko says:

Well this doctor must not be removing the coils or he would see the damage that they do. Since when is stopping pregnancy more important than quality of life. These women have lost so much because doctors would not listen. The pain is real! It stops them from taking care of their children, losing their jobs, losing their homes and severing families.
It appears that doctors will run test after test to look for something causing the pain, instead of just proving it is Essure. ER doctors that do not know about Essure will state : it would appear that it is Essure causing you problems. How can so many doctors continue to say IT IS NOT ESSURE? There is documented proof that implants migrate and can perforate vital organs.
Please you must notify your patients of the side effects possible with Essure so they can make informed decisions. Most will decline Essure if you explain the only way to take Essure out is with major surgery. BTW people with nickel allergies have almost died from having Essure.so just because Conceptus wanted to market the product to “everyone” to boost their profits (in stock news) – it does not mean there is no nickel.
Further more, Erin Brockovich is doing her job excellently, how about you do yours a little bit better.
    Mother of an Essure Victim.

  16. Angela says:

WOW….well glad to hear our campaign against Essure is working. THANK YOU Erin for what you have done for us. Maybe this doctor needs to belong to our Fb group so he can explain why 35-40 women a month are now having hysterectomies. I do know fist hand, that’s pretty damaging too! Ugh!
AGAIN…thank you, and I’m glad to see that you are giving thousands of women a voice to become their own advocate!

  17. Maria says:

Angela my thoughts exactly, we are making an impact! Way to go ladies and thank you Erin..

  18. Carrie says:

    Dear OB/GYN in Arizona,
I am one of the people who’ve had complications due to Essure. Within two weeks of placement, I was admitted to the hosptial, where I spent four days on 3 different IV antibiotics 24 hours a day. Two weeks later, I had to have a hysterectomy at 38 years of age. To say that Essure is safe is ridiculous, and my uterus, tubes, cervix and one ovary, which were all severely damaged in the four weeks I had Essure, would greatly disagree! Had I not had surgery when I did, I could have died because the softball-sized abscess Essure caused was leaking infection into my abdomen, only discovered during surgery.
Would you seriously suggest this to one of your family members?

  19. Manda says:

Also….. Who said that Essure is even effective against or protects against pregnancy?!?! In the FB group, how many individual women have gotten pregnant after having Essure placed and a confirmation test done?!?! Last time I looked it was 39 women, it’s probably higher now since women have been coming out of the woodwork with this and other Essure related issues. I wish this product never existed. It ruined my summer 2013 and I’m still recovering from its removal fiasco. Major setback in my energy, weight issue, depression, you name it! Now my cycle is even thrown off and I don’t feel like myself. Conceptus, thank you for making my 2013 one to remember. Your infamy will live in my heart and in the hearts of those injured by you forever.

  20. Lamesha bilal says:

    Dear money hungry doctor,
Let me start out by saying how nieve you sound. You don’t know our pain until you’ve walked in our shoes and to try to deter the person who has our best interest at heart from trying to help us shows how ignorant you are. Health professionals are supposed to have our best interest, instead, people like you are ruining our lives. How about you put that “Essure” crap in you and see how you feel, when some of us are forced into having hysterectomies as early as in our 20s. It’s people like you that have people weary on going to the doctor. Once again, you put it in you and then comment.

  21. Maria says:

The Dr who wrote that letter is either completely uninformed or only cares about the boat loads of money being made for implanting unsuspecting woman. This fight is not about you or making your job more difficult, it’s about protecting woman from a product that is causing debilitating pain and so many other life altering issues! I was implanted in 2008 i was one of my Drs first implants. my procedure went exactly as i was told it would and i was occluded 3 months later with perfect placement- then my problems began. . In 2010 after implanting hundreds of woman my Dr and all the other Drs in her office stopped implanting, not because of me and my issues. But because of the severity of issues other woman were having. She said Drs make huge money to implant, she said when problems arise the reps where no where to be found, she said the makers took a long time to get back to her and then their response about removal was vague, she had pregnancies, migrations and a lot of pain. I had a hysterectomy recently, all my issues were gone that night. I had such debilitating inflammation that I could barely move along with so many other issues. In surgery it was found that I had a spider web of scar tissue and adhesions that tethered and pulled my organs up and over then attached them to one another. I was told inflammation can do that! If this is what you want to expose your patients too then you go right ahead and we will continue to inform and educate woman to expose the dangers of Essure.

  22. Dear Concerned Doctor,

I am one of the study group participants. I would like to invite you to examine all of my medical records both before and after Essure. You will not find much prior to the Essure because I was healthy but I would hope that you have at least a week to thoroughly review my post Essure records; they are quite extensive. When you have finished, I would challenge you to stand by your uninformed opinion.

  23. Angie Firmalino says:

I have a feeling I know who this doctor is. Let me just say this, what a cold hearted person you are. How can you continue to promote a product “for the greater good” and dismiss the thousands that it DIDN’T work for? The thousands it harmed? The thousands of families it destroyed? If you are who I think you are, and your defense to all of our problems is “it was the implanting doctors fault” then why are some women with proper placement suffering? Please explain that to me. Yes, I may have had improper placement, or mine just may have expelled on their own, probably the earlier, but why did I have to suffer two years before someone would help me? Why then are you not out advocating to this company that these doctors need better training and stricter supervision? I don’t see you doing any of those things. Why did I end up with IMPROPER removal? Why did mine get PULLED out vaginally so that I can suffer the effects of the fragments left inside me? Where’s the proper training and protocol for removal when things DO go bad? Why don’t you step up and help with THAT fight? How dare you. Seriously, how dare you. Let me stick a coil in your uterine wall and let you wear it around for two years and then come talk to me. Better yet, let me put one in your color and abdominal wall as well, then maybe ill give you two seconds of my time. But I’ll probably tell you it’s all in your head, take this anti depressant and go see a shrink”.

  24. Amber Paschall says:

Is our “project” causing too much harm for your business? How dare you talk about something you know nothing about..obviously! Why is there no name on your letter? Why not let yourself be known? If you want someone to hear your view on the matter..tell us who you are..not just some OB/GYN from Arizona! THANK YOU Erin for all that you are doing!!!

  25. Renee Rodriguez says:

To OBGYN in Arizona! How dare you attack Erin for what she’s doing! Do you yourself have Essure which we have now named E-hell???!!!! You say how safe the product is but how many lives does it have to ruin before people like you who call themselves doctors see that it’s not safe? I’m one of the many that took this so called “safe, non invasive” route & it’s ruined my health, caused strain in my marriage and took away from quality time with my kids because I felt so sick most days! I ended up in the ER shortly after the procedure because I developed a grapefruit sized cyst on my ovary causing me to have a partial hysto! It also compromised my kidney! I now get constant UTI’s; have 2-3 week periods with heavy bleeding & clotting along with severe pain; have bad skin rashes; daily headaches; joint pain; severe weight gain; shooting pains in my abdomen area! All of these symptoms and more that I may have missed occurred after the “wonderful” product you are standing up for! I’m now looking forward to my hysterectomy so that I can hopefully feel like a normal woman again! Why don’t you read some of these woman’s stories before you go selling your product that puts lots of money in your pocket and you ruin any others lives! Better yet if you are in fact a woman why not get the procedure yourself so you can experience it first hand!!!!!???? Essure is not SAFE!!!

  26. Melanie Goshgarian says:

    Seriously!

  27. Michelle Garcia says:

Dr. Dr. (I know who you are), and it wasn’t hard for me to figure it out.

I’ve read your blogs and the messages on your website, and you simply like getting paid on both sides. You implant women, and get paid for that, and when they are suffering, you help with removal and get paid for that. When we are successful with our efforts, you won’t be getting paid at all, and for you, that is the problem because you’re going to loose your meal ticket. Oh well… I’d rather be healthy that be your meal ticket

  28. Carrie says:

How can you continue to recommend Essure? Has your wallet been so padded by the manufacturer that your vision is clouded? Are you one of the doctors who receive huge bonuses for implanting Essure in many women?
Please tell me how can you continue to implant Essure into your patients while knowing the potential side effects? Are you unaware and uneducated about the complications women are having, or do you simply not care?
Well, let me tell you about some of the complications women have had. Here is a sampling:
Extreme pain, nausea, skin conditions, hair loss, extreme weight loss or gain (depending on the woman), bloating and other symptoms that mimic pregnancy, cysts or abscesses on the tubes and/or ovaries, fatigue, brain fog, autoimmune disorders, pregnancy, miscarriages, migrations of the coils into other parts of the body only to be embedded in the bladder, colon, abdomen wall, and so on. The list goes on and on.
Now, you can consider yourself informed. And, if you don’t believe us, then just go to the FDA website and look at all the adverse reports filed not only by patients, but by physicians as well. Thousands of people can’t be wrong!

  29. Crystalle Foster says:

Hahaha Erin exposes ppl to unwanted pregnancies what a joke I got pregnant after having essure for six years what about all the women who have had miscarriage after procedure hmmm but it’s safe and effective. If your a man please perform this on your wife and daughter then comment how great this product is If your a women have procedure done on yourself and go to your implanting doctor when your problems occur and deal with your implanting doctor tell you that you don’t know your own body. How about when your patients come to you and say I want a tubal you listen instead of pushing a product that you don’t know what it may do to their bodies. Healthcare in our country sucks because doctors like you. All you care about is the money that lines your pockets instead of the well being of your patients you took an oath to help ppl not harm maybe you should do some more research instead of pushing a product that didn’t have enough years of study. Stop trying to stop someone who actually gives a f___ about what women. Life saving procedure my a__. Thousands of women are told they are crazy and don’t know their bodies but it’s mighty strange we were all told prior to procedure you know your body. If having to end up with hysterectomies is life saving you need to lose your license. We shouldn’t be looking at doctors like they are the scum of the earth we should be looking to yall for help. Change your attitude better yet change your profession before you end up killing aomeone

  30. kama sales says:

WOW !!! THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTN !!! If you don’t have essure then you really do not understand what YOU are doing to your patients or what hell you are putting them thur !! You really need to step back from your check book and see what Essure does and is doing to thousands of women !! i’m sooo sorry we are making YOUR job harder by telling the truth !! but again THANK YOU SOOOO VERY MUCH FOR HELPING US GET THE AWARENESS OUT EVEN MORE !!!!

  31. Betti says:

As one of the thousands of patients that have had Essure, I strongly disagree with you, sir.

I had Essure placed in October 2010. Six weeks from the date of insertion, my immune system went haywire. I had strep throat for every six weeks for six months straight. Prior to that, I was a teenage when I last had strep. By November, I had such anxiety, I had to force myself to leave my home to go to work. By May I was diagnosed with Vertigo. This has been so severe, I almost crashed into someone while driving to work. Fatigue, weight gain that will not reduce with exercise, painful joints, painful intercourse, bleeding after intercourse, tremors, tingling in my hands and feet, feeling faint, the list goes on and on.
And at the age of 39 (and I know there are women that are younger) I have to have a hysterectomy. I chose to have Essure, I did not choose to have my decision taken from me, and have a hysterectomy.
Had I wanted one, I would have done so, instead of having Essure.

My insurance has been billed almost $100,000.00 with various physician, specialist, and ER visits. I for one, am grateful Erin is getting the word out. Patients have the right to know that this procedure has more side effects/complications than just pain and bleeding at the time of insertion.

If it were not for Erin and the word of mouth of the thousands of patients that have suffered from Essure, other woman will put placed in harms way because of Conceptus, Bayer, and OB/GYN’s that fail to disclose such information.

Sorry you feel that Erin is doing great risk to society. I sir, feel you and other OB/GYN’s are doing harm.

Now, if you would like to discuss this further, and you have the courage, feel free to contact anyone on this page:

As a matter of fact, we not only have our stories/experiences, we have pictures. If you have the courage, maybe you would care to tell us, based on the pictures alone, how this product if safe. There are over 1800 women that would love to hear you explain.

    Betti

As a physicians, how can you justify saying this procedure is safe? Will it take the death of women to make you realize Essure is not as safe as it is claimed to be.

Furthermore, as to exposing patients to unwanted pregnancies, do you know how many E-Baby’s there are? Yes. E-Baby’s. There are a lot of women that got pregnant after Essure. Many had the HSG test that confirmed blockage.

Also, if Essure is “safe” why are the coils migrating, breaking through the fallopian tubes, and damaging other organs?

This doesn’t sound safe to me.

    Betti

As a physicians, how can you justify saying this procedure is safe? Will it take the death of women to make you realize Essure is not as safe as it is claimed to be.

  33. I would love to see them “discuss it further” with some essure patients on national TV.

  34. Jessica says:

I’m speechless! So we’re all just lying just doing this for the hell of it. I am one of the 1800 women across the World dealing with these horrible side effects from Essure. Instead of acting like God why don’t you be a doctor for once And to listen to your fucking patients Be an advocate for your patients.

  35. Priscilla says:

It’s not even Erin’s fault. It was because of ladies like me who wrote her and asked her to help us cause we had no where to turn. I hope she continues to pursue this for our sakes and the sake of other women out there who have been harmed by this horrible thing that was supposed to help us, instead it has destroyed my life and many others. I believe that you will get your day in Heaven when you stand in front of your creator and you get judged for what you do and did. Until then ERIN WE ARE SO PROUD OF WHAT YOU ARE DOING FOR US AND FUTURE WOMAEN AROUND THE WORLD BECAUSE OF YOU WE MIGHT HAVE A CHANCE.

  36. Annette says:

Dear Doctor…who cannot even stand by his words by including his name….we all know who you REALLY are. Let me assure you, no one here is going to back down. I assume making your job harder equals… you have to actually work for your money by performing traditional tubal ligations. That the more women who refuse essure, the less money you make on your kickbacks. You are not only a disgrace to women’s healthcare but to the entire medical profession.

  37. Darlene Taylor says:

Im a mother of four children and your wonderful product has perfrated my uterus and is now stuck i my abdomen fascia ligaments and omentum. I have four great docs telling me its inoperable but they have to try because of the internial bleeding and constant pain and sickness. My hair falls out nausa vomiting stabbing pains every day all day and from the blood loss i often wonder how im still alive. Can j tell me ehat i should do if they cant get this thing out of my gut its ripping my abdomen apart every laugh or sneeze all i have is pain day in day put it even stabs me when im sleeping. I was an active mom now i just exsist. Maybe this wasnt such a good idea

  38. Heather Fritz says:

Read My story on here. Most safe?? I have never almost died with any other method I have used!

  39. Gloria says:

I’m surprised at people’s comments and stories. My friend and I chose to get Essure when another friend of ours told us about how she had it done. This was back in 2008 and none of us have had any problems with it.

  40. I am happy you and your friends have never had a problem. I hope you never do. The pain this has caused and disruption to my life…I would never wish that on anyone.

  41. Angie says:

I had the Essure procedure done a little over 4 years ago. Since then I have a1 year old daughter and im pregnant for the second time ….6 1/2 week. I don’t think I would recommend that you Essure to anybody.

  42. Mellissa Cobb says:

I find it rather humorous that the doctor says “if you have the courage” to contact him/her but doesn’t reveal his/her name. I’m a soon to be 34year old woman, who had no choice but to have a hysterectomy, due to Essure. I was bedridden for MONTHS.. suffering daily with Essure, and it took a hysterectomy.. Removing those toxic coils.. To make me well again! I’d like to know personally, on what medical criteria, this doctor is basing knowledge of Essure on. The data is being compiled DAILY.. So how is that scaring patients? Because the women are being sold this product as if it’s the greatest invention since the automobile?! When in all actuality.. It’s just lies and deceit that are being told. I read in an article, dated for 2010 that Nitinol was being removed from the Essure product due to health issue. Obviously this never happened.

  43. Katie Reader says:

I agree expose who you are, I bet he/she is a paid bayer rep!

  44. Leila Cruz says:

Dear Dr from Arizona..I’ve had Essure for 6 year’s now and have gotten pregnant 2 times..My first pregnancy I miscarried at 7 weeks..Which the Dr said could have happened due to my egg getting damaged going through my coils..I am currently pregnant for the 2nd time and am scared to death that something might go wrong because 1 coil was improperly placed and is sticking out into my uterus..More and more women are coming out and speaking out about there problems with Essure..So instead of thinking this procedure is so safe and effective you need to open your eyes and Google these problems..A lot of women have gotten pregnant with Essure and have other complications from this terrible product.

  45. June says:

Until you have lived in our shoes and experienced our pain than you have NO right to bash Erin or us! I myself have been living with pain, weight gain, anxiety and no energy for 6 LONG years and as soon as I’m financially able to get these demons removed I will hopefully have my life back again!! So why don’t you be an awesome dr and start warning these innocent woman of the side affects and possible hysterectomy that they will have to deal with and stop being a money hungry piece of scum!!!

  46. Amanda Wilson says:

I applaud this doctor for writing this! I had the procedure done 4 years ago, and it has been the best experience ever. These websites are all about the negative. Where is the positive? I’m here to tell you about the success. My doctor tested me for any reaction to the nickel implant 2 weeks prior to my procedure. They explained exactly what was going to happen, so I knew what to expect. Since then, I have had periods that are shortened by 2 days, and my cramps have almost ceased completely. I am 100% protected as they required I go back 3 months later for a test to prove it has been successful. It was an in and out procedure, and to date I have felt no pain. Being a larger person made me not want to have a surgery. This in and out procedure allowed me to get back to work the next day with minimal cramps. I thank my doctor every day for telling me about this option, and boo to all of you who are just into scaring the ladies. Surgery would have been much worse, and they don’t have to confirm it was successful that way. Essure requires the doctor to do a test to confirm it’s success. So anyone who has chosen a chop shop doctor should be warned. If they don’t test or aren’t experience, PICK SOMEONE ELSE! Thank you for creating Essure. You have saved my life and pocket book from the expense of kids.

  47. Tiffany Silbergleith says:

I have been reading a lot of the stories and people’s complaints. It appears to me that this may be a training issue and the problem is doctors not doing their due diligence.

First it is very new. One of my concerns before getting it done was that the long term effects are unknown. Choosing to have the procedure done was a risk I chose. I brought the concern up to my doctor and he very candidly told me that long term complications were unknown.

Second, if doctors are not asking the appropriate questions and giving you honest information so that you can make an informed decision, then the doctor is the one that is the problem. Not essure.

I had essure placed in 2009 and had an ablation done at the same time, so I would never have experienced the excessive bleeding and cannot speak to that. I have headaches, but I had them before essure and I have some bloating and weight gain, but that is only over the last year and that could have to do with the poor eating habits I have fallen into this year. I am changing my diet so I will know soon what the results are. I would never have linked essure to the above “symptoms”.

I obviously don’t fall into the 4% and I am glad that I chose to do it. To the doctor who posted this, I am sorry that there are doctors out there who do a poor job and don’t really care about their patients. To the people who are suffering from the complications, I am so sorry.

Erin & followers, I am all for making things right, but really ask yourself… Is this Essure (I’m not saying that it is not because I don’t know) or doctors not being responsible. Maybe looking at the success and failure rate per doctor might give a more accurate answer.

  48. Sherita honor says:

You really don’t know what your talking about unless you’ve had the procedure you can’t say what it is or not. Let it mess up your body like it as done hundreds of women. I was not told the side affects if so I would not have gotten this procedure. I want it until now but my doctor who done it says it can’t be reversed. Then if it can insurance won’t cover it but insurance paid to have it done. Know the facts before you say what is good!!!!

  49. Angelia Mathlin says:

Doctors like this are the reason I was so misinformed about my surgery. I’ve been through so much to the point I experience lower abdomen pain almost on a daily basis. My migraines began shortly after having the surgery and are also almost daily now. I can not be intimate with my husband without having horrible pains. I cry all the time wishing I could just rip it out. I called the company to discuss the problem and never got a call back. I just don’t understand with so much of us having the same problems, why are they still allowing women to get it. And WHY can’t they just take it out so we can try to live a normal life again? I just want to go back to before all the pain. It’s so depressing. But since we no longer have the money we had before, I can’t even go get checked up so I can make sure nothing worse is going on that I don’t know about. But this doctor feels it’s okay. I would like her to tell my kids that. They have to watch their mother cry or hear me say “Mommy can’t play today, it just hurts too much.” She is not a very good Doctor.

  50. Andrea Oman says:

Dear Ob/Gyn in Arizona- first off you must be man, because no female Ob/Gyn would dare write this knowing how precious our bodies are to us…. the most important thing now is we get help for those who are in real need of getting the Essure removed and since you Ob/Gyn in Arizona could help by going in another practice because this is apparent that you do not listen to your patients if you wrote the above statements .. I would sure like to know who you are so you could tell me to my face how safe ESSURE IS or maybe one of the many who have had hysterectomy. This is like telling me “Here hold this bomb we are not sure when it will go off, but it is safe for now”!!

  51. Amanda Floyd says:

So sick of doctors like this. They make women feel crazy when they their body better than any doctor. I have been in pain for 3 years and it keeps getting worse and I am told there is nothing wrong or I’m just looking for attention.

  52. Angela says:

Maybe you should use it then and see how it makes you feel…. I have been through hell and back with Essure and thousands of dollars in debt because of it! you think its safe its far from safe think of the hundreds of women who have to suffer daily because of it and who have to bleed day in and day out because dr like you have no answers to what is going on and who don’t want to admit that is the problem. unwanted pregnancies have you seen how many have become pregnant or miscarried because of essure how do you think those women feel???? what Erin is doing is a great thing for women like myself who doesn’t have a voice to be heard about my issues with essure needless to say Im the only one in my state who has had to deal with this bs from it! Good luck because we are all E-SISTERS and WE STICK TOGETHER!!!!
oh and my life almost ended after my hysterectomy at age 26 when I about bleed to death before I could get in to have emergency surgery to repair a tear no 26 year old with 3 kids should EVER AND I MEAN EVER have to go threw that!!!!

  53. Cecilia Wyckoff Bogle says:

Dear Arizona Dr I got my Essure done in Arizona. I am sitting here with that same pain that is a severe dull pain on my lower right abdominal. It is the same pain I have gone for ultrasounds & x rays & they always tell me they cant see my coil on that side they cant see what would be causing my pain then they send me home & forget about it. It has been 3 years since my daughter was born & 4 since the coils were placed. I have been through so much crap I just feel like I have lost my trust with Dr’s and the FDA as well as all these other company’s. I have been suffering from severe migraines weekly since the placement of my coils, I remember one day after the Essure coil had migrated & I was pregnant with my daughter I had my son who was 6 months I has woke up so dizzy I had to hold on to the walls to walk to get my son a bottle & the phone & strapped him in the stroller & called for help till they arrived I never did figure out what was wrong I just remember waking up 5 hours later. My son was with my mother in law. That was when I started seeing a neurologist. I have been dealing with the pain for so long between the migraines, Sharp stabbing pain in the abdominal, Dyspareunia,Heavy cycles, Fatigue I have had to go through a surgery Total laprascopic hysterectomy ( no more cycles after) & had complications from that which I have had a Dr tell me I needed another surgery for but I have not done it. I am frustrated that I have a piece of metal unknown location in my body I should not have to educate these Dr’s what to look for as Most of them do not even know what your talking about. I have suffered. My family has suffered.

  54. Katie Reader says:

I have one question for you. Would you implant your wife with essure?
I am here in AZ, and have suffered for 3years and 1month to the day. I am now having a partial hysterectomy thanks to essure! MY Dr. has seen the damage essure has done and agrees essure is the problem! I’m sorry that you are able to even be a Dr., you have no right to be a Dr. when all you care about is money and not your patients. If you really believe it’s that safe then you need to do some research on the product. So very sad! I am thankful you aren’t my Dr!

  55. Tammy schieferecke says:

Dear dr from az whom name is unknown, I have had essure since march 2011 me and my son are dealing with many problems thanks to essure my son has immunit disorder and can’t get rid of mrsa I have been unable to work since August of 2011 due to pain in my back pelvic and legs along with dizzy foggy brain and MASSIVE headaches I have learn a lot about essure and its so called results and its so called safe but am I lying are all these things not real I honestly don’t think so and so call ob/gyn if you are so brave gou are welcome to contact me at cause I am also making sure woman know the trutb about this product and I too am doing tje same thing as Erin so if you are brave you are welcome to message me Tammy schieferecke

  56. Diane Allen says:

After gettin Essure about 4 years ago I started getting debiltating cramps, extremely heavy bleeding and migranes on a daily basis. the other pains consist of shooting pains in my lower abdomen if i cough or sneeze or just out of the blue for no reason at all, the pain stops me in my tracks and doubles me over, i have also gained weight that no matter what i have tried it has not dropped. My hair has stopped growing and seems to be thinning rapidly, i have been taking Biotin for months hoping it will help with my hair to grow, but very little seems to have grown. I have had my thyroid checked 3 times in a 3 month span to make sure that was fine. The doctors have tried differnt medications to ease the pain and bleeding and pain associated with my cycle. Nothing has helped to date as of yet. Where my symptoms are as severe as some of the other ladies on here, I hope it does not get that bad before i can get something done about it. I have been discussing a hystorectomy with my OB/GYN but I am not a fan of that. All the issues I have discussed with them they do not believe that the Essure is the issue. I am going to be discussing with my doctors to see if they can remove them and just cut and tie my tubes, i really do not want to have it removed because i do not want to go on meds for the resto of my life. I am a mother of two grown children and do not want any unwanted or unplanned pregnancy. How these doctors can still endorse thie product is beyond me. If i do not get the answers I seek from my doctors i will seek the opinion of other doctors. Doctors are suppose to know what is best for their patience and for this doctor in AZ to tell Erin to stop fighting for people because they choose to not stand up against the people who have manufacuted this product. Maybe they should have tried the product out on their onw family in clinical trials before they decided to put it on the market.

  57. Sheena Humphrey says:

I had the essure procedure done November 14, 2014, during this procedure i was in so much pain, yes meds were given before the procedure, i felt everything that was going on up until they numbed me to put the coils in, a month before the procedure i was given the depo shot, i was told after the procedure i would cramp and spot for a day or so, i bleed three weeks straight from spotting to bright red blood to heavy flow, cramps never stopped here it is December 19 2014 and i am still in pain and still bleeding, i wasn’t told that i would feel this way, i was told this is the safest way to go, i recently had a baby in August of 2014 wich i had the option to have a c section because my last pregnancy was, had i known what i know now the c sectoon would have been my choice and i would have gotten my tubes tied, my stomach stays bloated like never before, i wish this could be reversed because i’m tired of cramping and bleeding, please think twice about this procedure.

  58. Sandra lucas says:

Yes I have been told that I’m not in pain when I am I was like really you don’t know my pain. The doctor just said no one else has any problems with the essure. I was like really read on line how many women are hurting over this freakin messed up permanent birth control now he wants to make a cut in my belly and do test for my uterus omg. Really. Does anyone know if you have to get a hysterectomy done when removing this. I was told I would have to. Wish I was told this before the doctors just sit back and enjoy there money with no guilty conscience that their patients are hurting.

  59. Alicia Sanders says:

    Dear Dr. So-n-So.
Until you have the “E-Failure” procedure done to you and you experience the horrible side effects and pain that comes along with it, please don’t comment on it. Erin Brockovich has the empathy you should have. Erin Brockovich believes in the pain and frustration that we victims are going through and she’s doing everything in her power to help us. You on the other hand sound as if all your concerned about is manipulating more victims into getting the “E-Failure” procedure done so you can get paid. Don’t try to tear down someone who’s trying to clean up your mess. If healthcare is really your passion and if you really stand by the oath that you took when you became a doctor, THEN I DARE YOU to research some of the effects that “we” “E-Sister’s” are experiencing and then do something about it!!!!

  60. Tracey says:

Ok Doc how would you like if I stick a coil where the sun doesn’t shine. Believe me I was given the same bs line you just did on this site and I ended up with a hysterectomy cause a doctor just like you said it was the greatest thing since sliced bread. The essure coil migrated into my uterus can you gurantee that it wont to your patients no you cant so this product is unsafe. How about all the women coming fourth of issues like cramping, ongoing bleeding, rashes, heart palpatations, breathing issues etc.. let me guess its all in our heads I think not. For once I think doctors need to consider something other than their deep pockets there are women suffering out their cause of this product and it needs to be removed.

  61. Dolly pena says:

  63. Mishelle Moore says:

In response to this gentlemans comment…
The only reason why your job is “more difficult” is because you now being asked to answer women’s concerns and issues that have been swept under the rug. Women have the right to know the truth.

  67. Erin B. says:

    Amanda,
I applaude you.

  68. Christine DeShields says:

    Hi Amanda,
My name is Christine and I was planning on getting this procedure done this month, but reading everyones story I’m second guessing this. Don’t know to many people that had this done and was really unsure.

  69. Susie says:

I was planning on having this procedure done that was encouraged by the doctor and agreed to do this on Oct 3, 2013, however after reading all this I will not be having this done., Thanks for putting this out there.

  70. Ashley says:

I totally agree with Christine. I am scheduled to go Sept 30th, but now I am scared!

  71. Veronica Larson says:

I am really sorry that their are Doctors that can really be like this. The truth hurts, and I guess his business is hurting and that’s why hes lashing out and telling lies.

  73. I am for all of this support, but I have a question… Why would you have this procedure if you wanted to have another child? Isn’t this supposed to be permanent sterilization?

  74. Curious says:

Just one question: if you wanted more children, why did you get Essure? Isn’t it permanent?

  77. Maria says:

Angela my thoughts exactly, we are making an impact! Way to go ladies and thank you Erin..

  79. Manda says:

  85. Melanie Goshgarian says:

    Seriously!

  88. kama sales says:

  90. I would love to see them “discuss it further” with some essure patients on national TV.

  95. Heather Fritz says:

Read My story on here. Most safe?? I have never almost died with any other method I have used!

  96. Gloria says:

I’m surprised at people’s comments and stories. My friend and I chose to get Essure when another friend of ours told us about how she had it done. This was back in 2008 and none of us have had any problems with it.

  97. I am happy you and your friends have never had a problem. I hope you never do. The pain this has caused and disruption to my life…I would never wish that on anyone.

  98. Angie says:

I had the Essure procedure done a little over 4 years ago. Since then I have a1 year old daughter and im pregnant for the second time ….6 1/2 week. I don’t think I would recommend that you Essure to anybody.

  100. Katie Reader says:

I agree expose who you are, I bet he/she is a paid bayer rep!

  107. Amanda Floyd says:

So sick of doctors like this. They make women feel crazy when they their body better than any doctor. I have been in pain for 3 years and it keeps getting worse and I am told there is nothing wrong or I’m just looking for attention.
