Erin received this correspondence from Dr Falk. What do you think?
“You should be ashamed of yourself. Essure is a safe effective procedure. you are scaring women away from this procedure. all for the sake of making money which sterilization method would you want your sister or niece to have. if you look at the data, it would be essure. i’d be happy to discuss this with you anytime. if you have the courage to discuss the facts
Joel Falk MD”
Dear Dr. Falk,
I thank you for taking the time to say ‘shame on you’ for our efforts trying to save women from suffering caused to thousands by Essure.
It’s very sad that a person in your position has chosen to turn a blind eye to the significant and horrific side effects they have had to endure because of Essure. You could be helping women, and instead, you are choosing the bash the very people who are choosing to do what you should be doing.
We’re here to save lives.
Women as young as 21 are left with no option; they have to have major surgery to free themselves of debilitating pain and nightmarish side effects caused by Essure. These are the same women who chose Essure to avoid surgery in the first place. There are many women who have suffered life threatening complications, and sadly, two lives have been lost. And all you say is ‘Shame on You.’
You are choosing to support a device that causes irreversible damage. You are choosing to support a device that inevitably leads to major surgery. You are choosing to side with a device that robs women of their quality of life. And now, you are choosing to support a device that kills. Bayer’s response to the loss of a life was to throw the health care providers under the bus. And you still have the gall to say ‘shame on you.’
I say check your medical malpractice insurance and save what you are being paid. You’re clearly going to need it because when push comes to shove, the Big Pharma will protect themselves at all costs, even if it means blaming more doctors. They get a pass because the device has PMA, and there is NOTHING to protect you.
No, Dr. Falk, we say “Shame on You.”
