I got the essure procedure done in 2012, about a year after delivering my third baby and feeling content that our family was now complete. The procedure itself was easy enough and likewise the follow up x-ray 3 months later which confirmed my tubes were indeed blocked. The problems for me began about 6 months later with what can only be described as labour type pain (all in the back) which comes and goes at varying times of the day, week and months. After a couple of scans and a visit to two different specialists the conclusion was that ‘it must be hormonal’ or ‘you probably have endometriosis’. I have never had any other issues and endometriosis was a rather far fetched idea in my opinion. I have seen today a promo for the channel 7 show this week and burst into tears. As today i was awoken at 4am by that pain. The pain that is always in the same spot, that doesn’t go away with painkillers and just enjoys keeping me awake. I have long suspected the coils were the cause of the problem but made to feel totally stupid by two different doctors, I began to believe that maybe it was just my lot in life. At 38 years old, I believe my only option is a hysterectomy and after all the pain of the last couple of years, I am actually looking forward to doing it.
