My story begins in October, 2010. On October 6,2010 my husband and i welcomed our fourth child, a baby girl. We had decided that we were done having children and i had asked my obgyn about getting my tubes tied, he had suggested the essure procedure. He had said it was a quick and easy in office procedure that would only take about 20 minutes. I was first scheduled to have the essure procedure done in december of 2010. However 2 weeks before the surgery i decided to cancel the appointment, out of fear, and doubt of not really knowing if i was done having children. So a few months went by and my husband and i had talked alot within this time about what we wanted to do. May of 2011 we decided that we would go ahead and have it done. The day of my procedure the doctor had given me a relaxer, and then when i got in the office he injected me with more pain relievers and relaxers. i was so drugged up i couldn’t speak and do not remember much about the procedure itself. The procedure took about 40 minutes total. After the procedure i went home and layed on the couch, i felt some cramping, and discomfort but it wasn’t to bad. The next day and weeks after i had severe cramping. I bled for about 10days after, i called my doctor, he said that some bleeding was normal and to not worry about it. The cramping after about 3-4 weeks had finally subsided and it seemed like everything was going ok, so i didnt worry about anything. However about 6 weeks after i had the procedure done, i got my period. It was very heavy, and i had severe cramping again. It was the heaviest it had ever been. That continued every month, until january of 2012 when i found out i was pregnant with #5 . Everything seemed ok, i had just scheduled my appointment to be seen by my obgyn. At 7weeks and 3 days i miscarried. I started bleeding heavily, i went to the ER, they confirmed that i had a completed miscarriage. I was devistated, every single pregnancy up to this point had been healthy and normal, so i attributed the loss of the this one to the essure procedure i had done. My obgyn said that this procedure had nothing to do with the miscarriage.
Here we are in December of 2014 approximitley three and a half years after the fact i still experience severe cramping and bleeding during my periods, as well as now having abdominal pain, and bloating. I experience very inconsistent periods that last anywhere from 3-12days, as well as i am now having two periods per month. I am scheduled to go to my obgyn next month. I would like to have these things removed, and get back to normal.
Until i had this procedure done i was a healthy woman, with a healthy body, healthy pregnancies, and healthy babies. I feel like everything changed when i got this procedure done. I hope that my story can help someone, and encourage them to know that they aren’t alone. For the last three years that is exactly what i have felt, is alone.
This website has been wonderful, and it has given me a sense of hope. I am so glad to see that there are women just like me that are experiencing the same symptoms as me. I hope after i see my obgyn that i find some relief, however i don’t think i will find anykind of relief until i am able to reverse this procedure somehow. Anyway Thank you for reading my story, I pray you find some comfort here.
