I am 26 years old, and a mother of two. I had Essure implanted in May of 2013. I went for the initial follow-up with the contrast dye in August, where I was told it needed to be exactly three months since they were implanted. So, I went a second time, this time the doctor couldn’t find my cervix, he asked if I had scar tissue covering my cervix, to which I replied ‘not that I was aware of.’ I had to go to the doctor FOUR times before the contrast dye revealed that my tubes were indeed blocked. Despite having to wait so long for confirmation, I felt good overall. I had read about this website and thought, I’m good, what are those ladies talking about?
Well, here I sit nine months later and I couldn’t be more depressed. Besides the depression, I noticed I started gaining weight like crazy and my once flat pelvis is almost as big as my stomach. Now I am not saying that I am extremely overweight, because I’m not, but I did have a bit of a stomach pooch, now I have rounded out! I have an app on my iPhone which tracks my periods, now that I am free of hormones I thought my periods would be more regular- I was wrong. I have been having two periods a month for three months now- this has never, and I mean never happened to me before.
I am now convinced that all my symptoms as described above are the result of Essure. I am now contemplating having them removed, but with my luck it will take a hysterectomy to remove these ‘death coils’. I am starting to excerise to see if my stomach and depression are a result of my eating and working out habits- though nothing has changed before or after Essure except Essure.
