Hi my name is April. I had essure in December 2012 after my 3rd son. I have been living a nightmare ever since. My symptoms range from debilitating migraines, pelvic cramps, irregular/heavy bleeding, skin/acne issues, hair loss, fatigue, joint pain, bloating, and insomnia. I have had migraines since the age of 18 but nothing like they have been for the last 2 years. I started researching my symptoms because I was tired of feeling like a 90 year old. I have seen doctors and specialists and nurse practitioners trying to figure out what was going on with me. I was told I had fibromyalgia which is an unacceptable diagnosis and none of the meds helped. I am a Registred Nurse so I used my knowledge to get to the bottom of my issues. What had I done different in the last 2 years that could have caused all these problems? Essure. I started researching issues other women had with the coils. It all started making sense, I had never had these issues before the coils. I trusted my doctor too much, he told me it was an ‘easy and safe option’ with less down time. I was so upset with him that I got referred to a new OBGYN. I told her about all of my symptoms and problems and because of pelvic pain/irregular bleeding/ and inflammation throught my body I have surgery scheduled 10/22/2014. The plan is to have a bilateral laprascopic salpingectomy (both tubes out) but she is pretty sure I’ll have to have a D&C as the coils have caused issues in the uterus as well. The possiblility of a hysterectomy is not off the table. At this point I just want them out so I can return to living a 30 year old life. It is possible to get these implants out, you have to advocate for yourself and don’t give up. It is so frustrating when the medical profession doesn’t listen to the patient and thinks they know more about your body than you. Good luck to you all.
