In 2007 I was convinced to get essure over an inplant style birth control. I was told they are made from stainless steel and so never took a copper alergy test. I am a fertile person and didn’t want to become pregnant again until I was ready. My doctor swore to me I could simply have the coils removed if I wanted another child which I very much did want one more child in my life time, I just didnt want one too soon. I was awake for the procedure which was fairly painful and felt like it took forever to complete. I was told I would spot for a few days and my first few period would be ‘harder’ then Im used to but then would settle and dissipate. After about 6 months I finally stopped cramping and bleeding 24 hours a day 7 days a week. At which time I immediatly noticed other issues from back spasms to sharp shooting pains in my pelvis area. In the years since these issues and others have arisen and grown worse. About 4 days before I start my period until about 2 days after, I cramp so hard I cant move or even walk, its completely debilitating. When I have relations with my husband its usually cut short due to sharp pains in my pelvis. I have gained almost 60lbs and doubled in size around. My entire pelvic region is always swollen and uncomfortable, Ive been diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome as well. After 7.5 years and 8 different doctors Ive learned essure was never meant to be ‘removeable’ I was lied to. All patients should be tested for copper allergy, I wasnt. I should never have been a canidate because of my cyst issues since teenage years, no one said anything about cysts ever. Against what I was sworn, I cannot find anyone willing to attempt removal in order to potentially restore my ability to become pregnant in any place I can get to. So I probably will not be able to have children again. Insurance only will to help with a hysterectomy when I am ready. I have been robbed of my future plans and tortured by a device that was supposed to be my mircle.
