Greetings and Blessings,
My name is Eboney Powell and I had Essure inserted in October of 2012 when my last child was 2 months old. Originally, I was scheduled for a tubal ligation following my c-section, but my doctor stressed how Essure was a better way to go. She told me that it was done in the office, and there was minimal downtime for me to heal. I thought to myself ‘hmmm, sounds great, not to mention convenient. Before my original appointment date, I was contacted by my dr’s office and was told that a representative from the manufacturer needed to be present when Essure was implanted, and that we had to reschedule, so the 3rd party could be present. I complied, and we were scheduled about a week later. I was told to come by the office to pick up multiple prescriptions ranging from anti-anxiety drugs to narcotic pain killers. I was told to take them all on a specific schedule before the procedure. Feeling very ‘woozy’ before starting the procedure, I was asked to sign consent forms giving permission to go ahead with the procedure. I looked around and there was no representative from Bayer present at all. I asked my physician, and she said ‘I don’t think they’re coming, so we are just going to start. I’ve done this procedure quite a few times’. I didnt think anything of it, and being ‘high’ on narcotics helped me to not care. My dr’s medical assistant arrived in the room to help along, and we began. What I had been told was a minimally painful procedure turned into the worst pain I’ve ever felt in my life! Yes, worse than pregnancy labor. I thought I was going to die. (for real) It felt like there was a lot of air being pumped into my internal organs. ( I cant think of another way to describe it). I could also hear my heart beating at a very slow pace. (about 40 beats per minute). I yelled to the top of my lungs, and my dr. assured me that she was almost done. When the procedure was over , I was short of breath, and had severe chest pain. I couldn’t catch a breath. It was really weird. I went home a little later, and went to sleep.
Moving forward to about 8 months post-procedure. I began to suffer from severe headaches more frequent than ever, as well as developed very itchy skin. I treated my symptoms with Ibuprofen and Antihistamines. Again, I thought nothing of it. About 2 months later, I began to notice that my abdominal area was extremely bloated for most of the month. It would go down for about a week, and then back to looking like i was 4 to 5 months pregnant. My eating habits were the same, so I know it wasn’t because I was indulging in bad food on a frequent basis. To make a potentially very long story short, I began to develop many new symptoms, and did not think Essure could be the blame until I stumped across a Facebook group of women who share their very similar experiences. Many of them experience all the same very noticeable symptoms like I did. I have gone to several specialists for my ailments, and not one physician would acknowledge that Essure could be the culprit. To help anyone who is reading this compare their symptoms to mine, here ya go:
Excessive bloating of the abdominopelvic region
Migraine Headaches
Skin rashes that dont clear up unless you are using prescription medications
Chronic Pelvic pain
Very heavy periods
Irregular menstrual periods
Hair loss
Body Aches
Numbness and Tingling of the limbs, and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome has been ruled out
Extreme Mood Swings (mine have been so bad, that my relationship has suffered severly because I’m so ‘mean’)
Depression
I hope this helps those who may be suffering from any of the same symptoms compare my list to theirs. I don’ believe this is all a coincidence

Thanks for sharing your story Lorie! Women who suffer from the Essure problems often think they are alone. But when they discover this very useful website, they feel very relieved that what they are going through are NOT products of pure imagination or of the mind, as crazy doctors tell. I do hope that this product gets banned by the FDA soon.
