Hi my name is Brenda Garza, I’m 40 years old I was offered Essure in 2013 by a Nurse at a UTMB clinic. Seeing I did not want to have any more kids and had no Insurance at that time, I agreed to get the devices put in, the nurse did not give me that much information on Essure other than it was a permanent birth control method. I talked to my husband and was scheduled in the next couple of weeks in Galveston Tx, to get the procedure done, I regret even going, it was so painful while the doctors could not get the balloon to take while I was getting the procedure done, there must have been 3 different Doctors trying to put balloon in to set the coils in, I was literally the laying there in so much pain, I finally told the last Dr, this is it please let this be the last time you try, I was crying and he finally put them in. I laid there on a table, a nurse came in and told me to get dressed and I was able to leave. My husband helped me get into the car with no pain meds and drive me home. i have experienced heavy bleeding, depression and in a month I will be receiving a full hysterectomy taking everything out, including my ovaries. I have went through so much in 2 years and I blame theses devices, I have Insurance now and a great OBGYN in town, but am very sad that at my age I have to get a full hysterectomy because I was told I have pre cancer, and if I don’t get everything removed, it could spread later. I do not recommend anyone to get Essure its something that I blame for the damage in my Tubes and I feel the lack of information I reviewed and also the torture I went through at this hospital, I will always feel my life was ruined.
That’s the risk when you do not have enough information before you get a product to be placed in your body. I had dearth of information as well before I got this bad procedure. I am in constant pain. This happens to me usually when I’m seating curled up position and try to get up sometimes I have to seat right back down and get up slowly. I blame the coils for this pain.
