Getting the essure procedure was one of the worst mistakes I have made. Aproximately 5 years ago, after having 2 children, I wanted a permanant method of birth control. After consulting with one of the Doctors in my OBGYN practice, we decided on the Essure procedure because it was less evasive and no medication and had very little recovery time. That was an absolute lie. Prior to my procedure, the Nurse administered a Tylenol shot on my Gluteus muscle. The prodedure started, there was absolutely no pain relieve. The only way I can discribe the pain I felt within the next 20 minutes was a horror movie. I felt everything inside of me, felt like I was being ripped apart inside. The Doctor sent me home with a prescription for Persoset for the pain and sent me out the back door, my guess is so that none of the other patients could see in my face the ordeal I had just endured. For the next year, I bled almost everyday. I decided on the procedure so that I would not get pregnant, well what woman could get pregnant without having sex, for having sex when you are bleeding is not very romantic. Since the procedure, my body has not been the same, I have sporadic cramps and pinching episodes. I have decided to have a hystorectomy, so that these foreign metal coils are removed. I would never recommend the Essure prodedure to any woman. I realize that it was my decision to have the procedure performed and have had to live with it, I just hope that after the hystorectomy, my body will return to a somewhat normal state. At age 45, I still have a lot of fun living to do.
