I had essure procedure done in 2010. When I received the Essure device, it could have killed me then. Now, as I have recently visited with my OB-GYN, that this device may be the cause of the health problems I have been having for approximately the last four years. In 2010, my doctor recommended Essure as a means of birth control after I opted to have an endometrial ablation for extremely heavy periods. In placing the Essure device in my fallopian tube, it ruptured the fallopian tube and either an artery or a vein causing severe brusing. My doctor wasn’t comfortable with the discoloration of my abdomen so a 30 minute procedure ended up being a 4 hour major surgey. Fortunately, he was able to repair the damage but he had to resort to ‘tying my tubes’ and I believe that he left one of the essure coils still in the one tube that was not ruptured.
Since then I have been tested for Multiple Sclerosis, had MRI’s and CAT scans of my head to determine why I am having headaches. I’m perfectly healthy by all the exams and testing that has been done. I’m extremely tired all the time. And recently, have started having pain in my lower back and extreme changes in my menstrual cycle.
In discussing my symptoms with by OB-GYN, he discussed that the Essure could be causing my problems or maybe fibroid tumor. All I know is after coming home and reading the reports of other women; we are experiencing similar issues and we all have the same thing in common: Essure Contraceptive device.
I appreciate this forum and site as now my health issues are beginning to make sense. I would appreciate knowing what else I can to do to help make the FDA more accountable in testing any drug and device before it goes to the marketplace.
